Saturday Morning Math

The University of Minnesota Math Center for Educational Programs is getting ready for our Saturday Morning Math enrichment courses starting this November. This program for 5th-7th grade students lets math loving students learn and explore mathematics through games, crafts, and fun! We are offering courses this year on voting theory, origami, game strategy, and more. Each class encourages students to explore advanced mathematics and its scientific applications from a different perspective. It's a great way to keep excited young mathematicians engaged and spark a love of math in curious students. A complete list of this year's session dates and topics can be found on our Saturday Morning Math page. If you have students you think would love this course, a flyer is attached with information and links.

I'm also excited to announce that entrance exam registration for the University of Minnesota Talented Youth Mathematics Program is now open! UMTYMP is our five year program where students can complete the high school curriculum and take advanced college mathematics courses at the University. I will be sending out entrance exam reminders at the beginning of the calendar year. This year we are providing online information sessions in December and January. You can RSVP here to receive the meeting link. More information is available on our website. Contact Max Manzo at mathcep@umn.edu if you have any questions!

School Attendance Reminders

Just a reminder that if your student will be absent from school, if you are picking them up early, or they are arriving late, please call the 24/7 attendance line at 651-621-6601 and leave a message. You may also send a message through your ParentVUE account or send a note with your student to drop off in the front office in the morning.

PLEASE NOTE: If you need to pick your student up earlier in the day, calling ahead of time to the attendance line is helpful. We can get a pass to them to sign out at the appropriate time and wait for you in the lobby, saving you time and causing less disruption to the classrooms.

If your student is ill and you need to relay information to the nurse, please call 651-621-6604 for the Health Office.

Curriculum Advisory Committee

The Mounds View Public Schools Curriculum Advisory Committee is seeking representatives to serve on the committee for the 2026-2027 school year. Committee members work in partnership with the district and community to gain knowledge and provide feedback about curriculum and other instructional issues. If you are interested in applying to be a part of the CAC, please complete the Mounds View Curriculum Advisory Application. The application will close on Friday, October 9.

Please see the Mounds View Curriculum Advisory website for meeting dates, past topics and other important information regarding the committee. If you have questions, please contact Beth Snyder at 651.621.6047 or by email at elizabeth.snyder@moundsviewschools.org .

Middle School Consent Form for High School Activities

Seventh & eighth grade athletes that wish to participate on a high school team will also register online. Before you begin your online registration, approval must be obtained from the middle school principal or dean, the high school activities director, and coach. In addition, signatures from both student & parent/guardian are also required. You can get a copy of the middle school consent form in the front office or print out a copy.

Apply For Educational Benefits

All students are offered one breakfast and one lunch meal at no cost each day at school as part of the Minnesota Free School Meals Program. Although no application is required to receive this meal benefit, filling out the Application for Educational Benefits is still important and households need to apply for Educational Benefits each school year.

Families who qualify are eligible for many great benefits, such as reduced (or free) fees on sports and activities, college application fees, transportation, community programs and more. Watch the video below to learn more and apply at mvpschools.org/reducedfees.
