Boyden Extended Day
March has been a great month for Extended Day students here at Boyden School! Throughout the month, students have been able to go outside and enjoy lots of physical activities such as: basketball, wall ball, soccer and jumping rope. When the students were not playing outside, they got to create some really cute crafts, including St. Patrick's Day owls, which were a huge success! Also, during the morning program, students created animal statues to see how long they could balance for. Lastly, another fun activity that the students completed were creating towers with stacking cups. Needless to say, everyone had so much fun participating in these activities! Moving forward, our students are looking forward to the month of April and seeing what fun crafts and activities that we will have in store for them.
Elm Extended Day
Hello Elm Families,
Elm Extended Day has been busy during the past several weeks! Students and staff spent lots of time completing numerous St. Patrick's Day crafts, painting projects and rock decorating activities. Also, we worked together to decorate our cabinets for Spring! Lastly, as always, we continued offering our hallway movement activities and spent lots of time outside.
Moving forward, we are asking families to please continue sending your students with sweatshirts and jackets that are suitable for outdoor play. As the weather continues to get warmer, we will continue to spend more time outdoors. Happy Spring!
Fisher Extended Day
Hello Fisher Families,
The month of March was full of fun activities, here at Fisher Extended Day! First, we completed many different art projects, such as diamond art, finger painting and slime making. Diamond art continues to be one of our favorite activities, which included making animal stickers for our water bottles. This activity requires lots of patience and skill, all of which the students have mastered.
Also, Fisher Extended Day hosted our annual Talent Show! Many of our students participated and our performances included gymnastics, singing, drawing, skits and basketball tricks. Also, the whole kindergarten and first grade class performed the Hokey Pokey and Head, Shoulder, Knees and Toes. What enjoyment and various entertainment we had!
Additionally, the students have been enjoying more outside time now that Spring has sprung! Games including track ball, basketball, football, soccer, frisbee, and parachute games continue to be our favorite activities. Also, some of our students even developed their own creative games using cones, hurdles and hula hoops to create obstacle courses.
Lastly, we want to give a shout out to our Extended Day students for being such great helpers. Many of our students volunteer to set up cones, help out with organizing games in the gym and even help with putting together different art projects. Nice work, everyone!
Looking ahead towards April, we are excited to organize some new activities for Earth Day. Please remember to send your student to Extended Day with a light jacket. Thank you!
OPR Extended Day
Hello OPR Families,
March is always a busy month at OPR Extended Day! Throughout the month, we spent many afternoons inside, while enjoying the warmer afternoons outside. We introduced some new activities at OPR, including a 2,000 piece puzzle and a new Word Games Club with Ms. Andrea. Also, Ms. Andrea and Ms. Aimee helped students complete multiple word search challenges, including a mega word search that included everyone's names in the afternoon program. This included over 90 words to find! Also, students in Ms. Danielle’s Taylor Swift club created Diamond Art Keychains, coloring pages and t-shirts designs. We also enjoyed our annual St Patrick’s Day celebration, which included decorating the cafeteria, watching Disney Channel's “Luck of the Irish” and participating in numerous seasonal activities. While spending time outside, soccer and football continue to be our favorite activities at the back playground, as well as basketball with Mr. Murphy. Lastly, we welcomed Mr. Marcos back with excitement, while he was home for his Spring break. It was great having him return!
The month of April is right around the corner and we look forward to participating in activities that involve nature, environmental awareness and spending time outside for Earth Day. Also, we are looking forward to some Spring and Easter celebrations as well. Boyden Elementary will be hosting vacation camp again this year available April 22th - 24th (Tuesday - Thursday). With the warmer weather coming, OPR Extended Day looks forward to more outdoor time for play and fun. Please remind your students to bring a water bottle and a light sweatshirt to the program for the cooler afternoons. Additionally, Ms. Bridget is preparing for her upcoming maternity leave and her last day will be Thursday, April 17th.
