Good Morning Emerson Families,

I hope this email finds you well and that your remaining summer days are enjoyable. It’s hard to believe we are 21 days away from our first day of school. We are eager to welcome our newest Eagles and our returning leaders to an exciting 2026/2027 school year. Below you will find an overview of upcoming events. In the coming weeks I will be communicating important dates, events, need to knows from our handbook, and policy changes regarding cell phones. Once the year begins, you will receive a weekly newsletter on Fridays with upcoming events, important updates, and contact information.

On the morning of August 20th, printed schedules will be available in the main office and online through student or parent connect. Schedules located in other avenues such as Clever or Amplify are not accurate and should not be used. Parent Connect Info

7th Grade (Full Day 8:00am - 2:50pm)

7th grade students will experience a morning of fun as they go through an orientation to middle school life and all things Emerson.

7:30 Doors open. Students will pick up an orientation schedule and report to the cafeteria. Breakfast will be available.

8:00 - 11:55 - All 7th graders will experience an opportunity to open lockers, complete a scavenger hunt, learn basic Emerson policies, and engage in some fun activities. Lunch will be served for 7th grade students.

12:00 - 2:50 - Students will follow an abbreviated version of all 6 classes.

2:50 Dismissal

8th Grade (Half Day 12:00pm - 2:50pm)

Busses will run on a 3.5 hour delay.

11:50 Doors open. Students will meet in the east gym. No lunch is provided to 8th grade students.

12:00 Students will follow an abbreviated version of all 6 classes.

You must have a physical exam form on file in the athletic office in order to participate. See the section on sport's physicals for more information.

The first day of practice is Tuesday, August 25. There will be one boys and one girls team. A Google Form to sign up students will be emailed to all parents some time in August.

All practices are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3:00-4:30.

All meets start at 4:00.

The course run is a two-mile overland course (Emerson's home course is on site).

You must have rides ready for pick up at 4:30 on practice days and immediately after meets. Late pick ups may result in removal from the team.

Girls Volleyball

The first day of tryouts is on Tuesday, August 25. Our tryouts will be August 25, 26, & 27. The times for tryouts are 3:00-4:30. All student athletes must sign up prior to tryouts. If a student does not sign up, they will not be able to try out. A Google Form will be emailed to all parents some time in August. Also, all student athletes must be present on all three tryout dates.

There will be one team of 15 seventh graders.

There will be one team of 12 eighth graders.

Students will need to provide their own volleyball shorts for games (plain black, minimum four-inch inseam).

All practices are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3:00-4:30.

You must have rides ready for pick up at 4:30 on practice days and immediately after games. Late pick ups may result in removal from the team.

All home games and Livonia vs. Livonia games start at 4:00.

For out of district away games: seventh grade at 4:00, eighth grade immediately after (approx. 5:00).

Sports Physical

All students must have a current sports physical on file in order to participate/tryout. A valid 2026-2027 physical examination must be completed on or after April 15, 2026. Physicals are mandatory for participation.

All sports physicals must be uploaded to Final Forms. Also, the parent AND student section in Final Forms must be completed in order to participate in sports at Emerson.
