GISD new student registration round up!

Parents of students who will be 3, 4 or 5 years of age before September 1, 2026 are encouraged to register as soon as possible. All 4-year-old students entering Pre-K and 3 and 4-year-old students entering Head Start must meet eligibility requirements as required by Texas law.

Edison and Head Start staff will be available to answer any enrollment eligibility questions, assist with online registration, and to accept enrollment documentation. To expedite registration, families of Kindergarten students are encouraged to complete the online registration prior to the round-up, and to bring supporting documentation to complete the student’s registration. Computers will also be available for online registration if the process is not able to be completed prior to the event. If the family currently has a student in the district, please add a new student to the existing parent portal account. If a parent portal account does not yet exist, go to gainesvilleisd.org/registration and create a new account.

Documentation requirements include: parent identification, child’s social security card, birth certificate, proof of residency, immunization record, and proof of income (to determine Pre-K eligibility).

To learn more about qualifying for Pre-K or Head Start, visit our website: https://www.gainesvilleisd.org/students-families/student-registration

Youth Art Month

March is Youth Art Month across the Nation and in Texas we of course celebrate it BIG! The Texas Art Education Association in partnership with the Bullock Texas State History Museum and the Governor's office, celebrates Youth Art Month with an art competition that features less than 200 art pieces from across the state.

Students selected are invited to Austin for an award ceremony and gallery show at the Bullock Museum. This is an amazing honor and we are proud that GISD had one art piece selected for this show. The beautiful art was created by Sophia Hernandez, who is in Mrs. Stogner's 6th grade art class at Gainesville Intermediate. She was at the event on Sunday, March 29 to receive her medal and certificate with her family and Mrs. Perkins.

Superintendent's Advisory Council Superintendent's Advisory Council

We were missing two students, Jackson Otts & Caitlynn Perkins due to other school activities for the final Superintendent Advisory Council meeting of the year! For this meeting, the group was invited over to the new GISD admin building for a catered lunch by local fave, Karen Wade.

As a token of appreciation, Dr. Stewart presented each SAC member with a patch for their letter jacket.

Seniors: Jackson Otts, Sadie Larraga, Ariana Huerta, Makayla Andujo

Juniors: Mailyn Jaramillo, Cyrus Moster-Lowry, Caitlynn Perkins, Ashley Victorio

Sophomores: Braylen Cook, Ruby Kemp, Alejandra Sullivan

Freshman: Emma Alonso, Carlos Maldonado-Salas, Molly Pyle

Nominate at GISD staff member for a High Five Award!

The Leopard High Five program is a way to salute any Gainesville ISD employee who goes above and beyond for our students, staff, and community. Whether you are a parent impressed with a specific interaction with your child, or you are a coworker who thinks the campus secretary doesn't hear often enough about the great job she is doing - you can send a Leopard High Five! Nominations can be made by any staff member, parent, or community member, and any GISD employee is eligible to be nominated for a High Five.

All nominations should include a specific example of how this staff member has gone above and beyond for a student, a peer, or the community and must align with one or more of our GISD core beliefs: Equity, Excellence, Diversity, Innovation, Partnership, Safe and Comfortable Environment.

Nominate a GISD staff member for a High Five award!
