Windham School District | November

Friday, March 22, 2024
Dear Parents/Guardians:
I am thrilled to welcome the arrival of spring to our school community. With its promise of renewal and growth, this season brings new and fresh opportunities for learning, connection, and joy. Below are a few additional district highlights.
NH Counselor of the Year: We are excited to announce that Julie Lichtmann, K-12 Director of School Counseling, was awarded the New Hampshire Counselor of the Year award earlier this week. Mrs. Lichtmann has a remarkable twenty-five years of dedicated service within our educational community and we are very proud of her accomplishments.
Elected School Board Chair and Vice Chair: Congratulations to Mr. Senibaldi and Mrs. Ulery for their nominations to resume their positions as Chair and Vice Chair of the Windham School Board. I look forward to our continued partnership and commitment to the district.
Les Misérables: Last night, our high school students opened their production of Les Misérables. The musical performances are being held in the high school auditorium and will continue throughout the weekend. Tickets will be sold at the door: $12.00 for adults and $8.00 for seniors and students. Check out the latest episode of our podcast, featuring Artistic Director Alison O’Brien, to learn about the show and hear a sneak peek from our students.
RTI/Title I Family Night: On Wednesday, March 20th, the Golden Brook School hosted its RTI/Title I Family Engagement Night. We had an excellent turnout for our Spring Fling themed evening filled with educational games, resources, and family engagement. We would like to thank our dedicated RTI staff, parents, and students for allowing this evening to be such a success.
FY23 Audit Results: The FY23 audit was presented at the School Board meeting this week by Plodzik & Sanderson, P.A.. We are proud to announce that there were no material weaknesses. I want to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of our Executive Director of Business, Finance, and Operations, Dalisa Greenleaf, and the Business Office staff; their dedication to our district and community has been instrumental in a clean audit process.
Feasibility Study: The Building and Grounds committee, in collaboration with the School Board and Administration, has been reviewing and evaluating the district's student enrollment projections and individual school capacity for the past several years. At the March 19th school board meeting, the Board approved funding to engage Banwell Architects in an architectural and feasibility study for Windham Center School and additional land owned by the school district. This study will be presented to the school board in the coming months. This is the first step of many in assessing the district's capacity.
Best of luck to our students and staff involved in the production of Les Misérables! I am looking forward to seeing their hard work come to life.
Wishing you a joyful and rejuvenating spring season,
Dr. Kori Alice Becht
