Principals' Message
Dear SCS Families and Caregivers,
Last night's 8th-grade ceremony and dance was a beautiful capstone to a wonderful year. During the event, Mr. Cluff shared a reflection on the nature of time. When we want it to slow down, it speeds up. When we want it to speed up, it crawls. Wherever you fall on that spectrum this time of year, we hope you have been able to take some moments to pause, take a breath, be present, and soak it all in.
This week gave many opportunities to do just that, in honor of student progress and community connection:
Honoring Achievement: We celebrated our students' hard work and growth at Wednesday's 5-8 Awards Ceremony and through end-of-year team slideshows.
Culminating stories were shared by authors across the school through Authors’ “Restaurants,” the Economy Fair, 8th grade “Paper Plate” awards, and many other celebrations. In third grade, caregivers joined together to taste samples of students writing from their year, ordering from a menu of samples.
On Thursday, our oldest and youngest students shared a magical moment. Students school-wide cheer on the kindergarten Teddy Bear Parade as it passed through the teams. A testament to the kindness, inclusivity and sense of our student body exemplifies.
Preparing for the Summer and beyond and to help you transition smoothly into the coming school year, please note these upcoming dates:
Tuesday: Progress reports will be delivered, marking a final celebration of this year's academic milestones.
Next Week: Class placement information will be sent out for students joining new teams.
August: 2026-2027 school year communications will begin, including back-to-school details and annual permission forms.
8th graders, I’ll say it one more time before you graduate: you are role models for each other and for all those who look up to you. That itself makes you powerful. Use your inclusivity, creativity, joyfulness, and all the other things you’re bringing with you when you leave this auditorium to lift up your community, particularly those who might not have as much as you. Use those powers to keep growing and learning, and you will become the best version of yourself. Use them to make the world a better place. If you do that, each of you can be a superhero in your own way. Thank you for making us all proud, and congratulations to the CVSD class of 2030!
Thank you for a phenomenal school year. Have a safe, connected, and wonderful summer!
Antonia, Jen, and Brett
