Seeking BoT Applications
Hello, BFCCPS Community,
The Board of Trustees is excited to announce that we are seeking applicants to fill 4 vacancies within the Board. Each position is a 3 year term, with the option to run for re-election at the end of the first term. Applications for the open positions are available via the linked google form. Applications are currently open, and will close on May 15th. Conversations with interested applicants will occur at the June 9th board meeting, with elections happening in that meeting as well.
Sri Sanisetty is serving as the Nomination Coordinator for this election, and any questions can be directed to her at ssanisetty@bfccps.org, or any other member of the BOT. Additionally, if you are interested in joining a committee, please reach out to the Committee Chairs for additional information.
Additionally, Board level committees are always looking for interested volunteers. You can find more information on each committee below. Please reach out to the committee chair for additional questions.
Best,
Jacque
Jacque Cutillo
BFCCPS Board of Trustees President
Committee Information
The Board of Trustees operates six committees, each responsible for ensuring the school maintains fidelity to the charter. Information on the committees, as well as the contact information of their committee chair is listed below. If you would like to volunteer as a committee member, or have an interest in attending any committee meeting, please contact the chair directly.
Governance Committee
The Governance Committee reviews the school's policies, rules, and procedures. The Committee, when necessary, drafts new policies and procedures and recommends amendments to existing policies and procedures for the Board's consideration based on a revolving 3-year schedule to comply with annual report requirements. Governance additionally ensures that reviewed policies follow the standard policy format. Meetings are generally the first Monday of the month at 7:30pm, questions can be directed to Jacque Cutillo at jcutillo@bfccps.org
HR Committee
New members are always welcomed and appreciated on HR Committee. The Committee manages the Employee Engagement Survey, provides support and guidance to the Executive Director and HR Director, and reviews employee related policies and procedures for the Board of Trustees. All members of the BFCCPS community are encouraged to volunteer but the committee is particularly in need of diverse representation from our community, HR professionals, and BFCCPS employees. If you are interested in hearing more about the HR Committee, please contact Jennifer Welch at jwelch@bfccps.org
Facilities:
We are excited to invite dedicated members of our school community to join the BFCCPS Facility Committee for the 2025-2026 school year. The Facility Committee is empowered to make recommendations and report to the Board of Trustees regarding all facility-related matters. As a board-level committee, its purview does not include the day-to-day operations of the school. Our goals include providing BFCCPS students, faculty, and staff with a safe and conducive learning environment and making timely recommendations on unforeseen facility issues. We seek individuals with expertise in trades, construction management, project management, and similar fields. Expertise in facilities construction or management is highly desirable but not mandatory. Committee members are expected to attend monthly meetings, actively participate in discussions, and occasionally volunteer for subcommittees. Please email Melissa for more information: Melissa Vaillancourt at mvaillancourt@bfccps.org
Mission:
The Mission Committee supports the policy and educational objectives of the Board of Trustees as they relate to the BFCCPS Mission. It provides an optimal forum for investigating the varied perspectives of board members, faculty, staff, and caregivers on Mission and curriculum topics. The committee has accountability for the annual Community Survey, 5-year Accountability Plan, community outreach initiatives, and academic success. If these areas interest you, we always welcome new members! The Mission Committee typically meets on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 7p. Please reach out to Amanda Christie at achristie@bfccps.org with any questions or if you are interested in joining.
DEIB:
The DEIB committee seeks to use our School Pillars as our guidance for supporting and implementing DEIB initiatives in our school. We are charged with evaluating and ensuring BFCCPS is aligned to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) DEIB directives and that we continue to evaluate our practices, policies, and curriculum through the lens of DEIB. If you are interested in joining this committee, please email Chandra Juncker at cjuncker@bfccps.org
Finance
The Finance Committee is looking for new members! If you have an interest in long term financial planning or simply want to understand the school’s funding mechanisms, think about joining FinCom. We typically meet virtually at 8 AM on the second Monday of each month. Contact Mike Heffernan at mheffernan@bfccps.org for more information.
Next Meeting
The next Board of Trustees meeting will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026 from 7-10pm at the school. The agenda for this meeting will be posted in advance. You can find information on board members, policies, and committees here.
