Message from Mrs. Ludford
October Greetings, Beaubien Families!
It is hard to believe September has already flown by! While we are still enjoying a few warm days, crisp fall weather is officially on its way. As temperatures begin to drop, please send your child to school in layers suitable for the changing season, and take a moment to label every jacket, sweater, and lunchbox with their name. Our lost and found is already filling up, and clear labels help us return missing items to their rightful owners quickly. Please keep in mind that students line up outdoors each morning and will continue to head outside for recess whenever the temperature, including wind chill, is above 20 degrees.
In the coming weeks, we’re looking forward to hosting a school-wide assembly in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, where students will have the opportunity to celebrate the vibrant cultures and contributions of the Hispanic community. To explore more ways to celebrate as a family, check out these fantastic local resources and events available across our city!
Attendance & Punctuality Matter!
We need your partnership as we aim to maintain a school-wide attendance rate of 95% or higher this year. Every minute of learning counts, and arriving on time helps set your child up for success each day. Our school day begins promptly at 7:45 a.m.
Please review the CPS Attendance Policy and remember to report absences by calling our main office at 773-534-3500 or by submitting the E-Absence Form. Only absences due to illness, family emergencies, or religious holidays are considered excused.
Grade Monitoring & Promotion
Stay engaged in your child’s academic progress by reviewing the CPS Grade Promotion Policy and regularly checking ASPEN Parent Portal (for grades 1–8). This is an excellent tool to stay informed about assignments, test scores, and overall academic performance.
Don’t miss all of our fun October events. They are always a hit with our students and a great way to build school spirit. Don’t miss out on important updates. Subscribe to notifications on our website to stay in the loop on all school happenings! As always, thank you for your continued support and partnership.
Warmly,
Michelle H. Ludford, Principal
The safety of our students is our top priority, especially during arrival and dismissal times when traffic around the school tends to be busier. To enhance safety measures, please consider the following reminders:
1. Follow Designated Drop-off: Argyle Street is the only designated area for dropping off students in the morning. Avoid stopping or parking in areas marked as no-parking zones, as they are designated for the safety of everyone.
2. Be Mindful of Pedestrians: If you park and walk your child into school, which is HIGHLY encouraged, be mindful of pedestrians and use designated crosswalks. There are many open spots to park just 2 blocks away from school.
3. Always adhere to traffic rules and be aware of the school's traffic flow.
4. Above ALL, please remain Patient and Courteous: Traffic during arrival and dismissal times can be hectic. Please exercise patience, be courteous to fellow parents, and follow any instructions provided by school staff.
We ask that all of our Beaubien families who drop off their children to be courteous to our neighbors and not block driveways. Every year the school receives numerous complaints about this problem and we need everyone's help to ensure the safety of our students. Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to your child's education.
Thank You!
A huge thank you to Kevin Achettu, Susan Czesak-Lead, Kelly Daniells, Jennifer Didier, Heather Geiyer, Jennifer Kunkel, Laura Lambert, Heather Talbert, and Allison Glovak Webb for stepping up to transform the Beaubien Gardens!
Tackling that mountain of weeds was no small task, and generously purchasing and planting all of the new flowers went above and beyond. Thank you all for your time, energy, and hard work. The gardens look absolutely beautiful!
