🌷Spring Has Sprung 🌺
The youngest students continue to amaze me with their creativity and design!
DK, Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade have been busy this spring! We were eager to say goodbye to winter and welcome the warm weather. Students created their own suncatchers to hang in the classroom.
We spent several weeks talking about helping the planet through recycling, composting and creating less trash. Students even participated in a trash sort similar to what they would find at lunch. Our fantastic teachers were celebrated with special cards during Teacher Appreciation Week as well. Our media centers were transformed into a hiding place for chameleons through some creative coloring, and we managed to even find some cats for a scavenger hunt too.

Practicing our Hands-On Skills
STEAM has been whirlwind this spring!
Third and fourth graders have had so many opportunities for hands-0n learning this spring. We started the month with really thinking about great stories for March is Reading month and jumped in with the Caldecott winner "Fireworks". Pi day brought some fun opportunities to explore and prove pi in all circles. March is also Women's History Month so we explored some fantastic authors and many accomplishments of women throughout history and today.
Because this group loves to build, we had a one cup Lego challenge paired with the task of building a bridge to cross a river made from various materials. April gave us the opportunity to learn more abou how we compost and recycle in the lunchroom. Students participated in trash sorts to recognize what needs to be kept out of the landfill. We also created 3D cards for teachers to show our appreciation.
Fifth Graders had many of the same opportunities listed above but also engaged in a special project to inform others about composting and recycling by creating informative posters. They also had special guests from Royal Oak High School visit
