Sunnyside 4-H Club

Sunnyside 4-H club has met three times in the new 4-H year. Our first meeting in November we had a short business meeting and then played fall bingo and made a turkey veggie bingo. In our December meeting there was no business, just announcements. The activity was making ornaments which were beaded trees and snowmen. In January there was no business but some announcements. For our activity we decorated cookies and learned about the 4-H rabbit project. Claudia W. brought her grand champion mini rex for 4-H members to meet.

Lucky Aces 4-H Club

Reporter: Eleanor Johnson

Date of meeting: 1/19/2026

Location: Baytown community center

Summary: Before the meeting started, we wrote encouraging cards to seniors in the community. First, we had a short business meeting. We came up with a list of ideas to help out around the community center, such as doing spring cleaning around the perimeter of the building. After the business meeting, The Cloverbuds came back in to share their crafts with us. (they made cute snowmen stuffies out of socks!)

Next, we had guest speakers Addy and Kaylee come up and share about the 4-H dog project. They brought a super cute dog, Bear, with them! Huge thank you to Addy and Kylee, they did such a great job presenting! So did Bear! We also played a couple of fun games; the adults played an alphabet story game, and us kids played heads up 7 up. I had the best time at the 4-H meeting.

St. Croix Clovers

The St. Croix Clovers had a stem workshop led by a club parent on January 11th at Baytown Hall. We learned about medical devices and what you can do with coding. There was a station where you learned about blockages in the blood stream and how doctors remove them. At another station, we learned about a long wire they use to gather flesh samples, and there was a game with a circuit board that used bananas and potatoes to make a whack-a-mole game. Also, at the end, kids got to play with little cubes that had basic programing so you could build things with them.

Learn about volunteering with 4-H

4-H volunteers contribute to youth thriving. They make their communities stronger and develop skills they can use in other settings. These are all great reasons to take a step to becoming a volunteer—If you’ve been thinking about volunteering but aren’t sure where to start there are steps you can take to learn more:

  1. Attend our virtual volunteer information session to learn more about what volunteering means to 4-H and meet 4-H staff who can support you in being connected to future opportunities.
  2. Complete our volunteer interest form. The info you share will be given to 4-H staff so they can work with you to find or create a volunteer role that meets your skills, interests, and availability.
  3. Reach out directly to your local 4-H staff to inquire about specific volunteer opportunities in your community.

Whether you join us for one day or for multiple events, we value the impact we make together for our youth and our communities! For more information contact MN4-HVol@umn.edu.

WINTER WEATHER Program Cancellation policy

The decision to cancel a planned activity is no simple matter. The safety and well-being of 4-H members, volunteers and Extension employees is the top priority.

4-H programs, activities and outings should be prepared to modify programming as needed in extreme cold weather.

  • Outdoor wind chill of 20 degrees below 0 Fahrenheit or lower.

The following will be considered when deciding whether to cancel a meeting or program:

  • The ability to safely operate vehicles (ice, snow, visibility)

  • Total predicted snowfall

  • Predicted temperature and wind chill factor

  • Schools are canceled

Emails will be sent to those who pre-registered for a county event being cancelled. Club Leaders should also notify members if club events are being cancelled.
