Superintendent's Update
January 16, 2026
Dear CCPS Families -
Happy New Year! I hope your 2026 is off to an excellent start and that you returned from the winter break with renewed energy and focus. As we settle back into our routines, there is much to celebrate and look forward to across our district. We are quickly approaching the end of the second marking period on Friday, January 23. I encourage all of our students to stay focused and connect with their teachers this week to ensure all assignments are in good standing as we wrap up the first half of the year.
Beyond the classroom, our winter sports are now in full swing. It has been a joy to see our student-athletes back on the courts, mats, and in the pools, and I want to thank our coaches, parents, and fans for the incredible spirit and sportsmanship you bring to every event.
We are also thrilled to highlight the creative talent within our schools through the Winter Art Exhibit, currently on display at the Milburn Theatre through January 30. This showcase features an impressive variety of works created by our dedicated students. I invite you to attend the Open House on Saturday, January 17, at 10:00 AM to see these beautiful masterpieces firsthand and celebrate the vision of our young artists.
Thank you for your continued support of Cecil County Public Schools.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey A. Lawson, Ed.D.
