Hello CELC & MVLA Families,

I hope you had a fantastic weekend and enjoy your extra day off. Our weekend was filled with sports! Volleyball on Saturday and softball on Sunday. We also celebrated by mom and dad's 55th wedding anniversary and my husband's birthday!

CELC Cubs had so much fun celebrating Valentine's Day. Thank you to the parents who came in to volunteer with the learning and festivities. I really enjoyed the special deliveries to the office. Thank you for including me and the office staff. We loved all of the goodies and notes.

AUSD is collecting data to help plan and prepare for the 2022-23 school year. Please take the time to fill out the surveys being sent out. Each school site has their own link. Please make sure that you fill one out for each of your students. Here are the links for CELC and MVLA.

Mary Barkley, our Office Clerk, continues to work hard to keep up on study contracts and update student attendance. To ensure that your student keeps up on learning and gets credit for attendance, please turn in your student's contract work at the office. We appreciate your partnership in your child's education.

The District continues to be guided by California Department of Public Health and our experiences from last year. Thank you for your support while we continue to navigate the 2021-22 school year.

Dr. Newman sent out an important communication on Sunday morning, updating the families on mandates. Please look for it in your email inbox or visit our FB page.

Important Updates and Information:

Don't forget that there is no school next Monday, February 21st. All campuses will be closed for Presidents' Day.
EAK parents- The PTA has CELC shirts available for purchase in the office.
Please make sure that you send your student to school with a Chromebook (fully charged), mask and a water bottle daily.
The PTA is busy organizing the Spring Fling that is scheduled for April 29th. If you are interested in helping, please contact the Stephanie Green at 619-659-8250.
Part 1 of Kindergarten registration for the 2022-23 school year began on February 8th.
Due to lack of interest, COVID-19 testing opportunities for students, staff and community members will no longer be 3 days a week. Testing will be provided on Wednesdays only in the bus circle of CELC/SHES.
Please make sure that Chromebooks are charged daily and ready for use in the classroom.
As a reminder, CELC official start time is 9:05 am. Students are not considered late until 9:06 am. Please check into the office for a late slip to ensure that your child is not marked absent.
Our next district-wide kindness dress up day is March 2nd. "Hats off to Kind People"- wear your favorite hat to school.
Students can be dropped off at the curb in the morning as long as there is a staff member present and it is before 9:05 am.

Attention MVLA Parents

CUBS IN THE COMMUNITY

The Cubs in the Community tradition continues this school year. Mrs. RIpke's goal is to connect with 100 Cubs (Future, Former, or Current) by the 100th day of school. Building relationships with our students is important to us! If you see Mrs. Ripke out in the community, encourage your student to say hi. Not only does it create an opportunity to connect, it also supports students' language and communication skills. Follow the sightings on our FB page. Feel free to share our postings to spread the word. Mrs. Ripke looks out for future, current, and former Cubs. Check out the latest Cub sightings below. This former Cub (and future Eagle) was spotted at the Freshman Showcase at GHHS. I also found two cuties at the softball field.

Volunteers Wanted

Please contact Stephanie Green in the office if you have any questions about PTA and any other volunteer opportunities.If you haven't already, please make sure all paperwork is completed and turned in. This includes an up-to-date TB test, the volunteer form, and proof of the COVID-19 vaccination. Persons not vaccinated are required to show a negative PCR COVID-19 test within the previous 7 days of your volunteer day. Please check with your child's teacher for any opportunities coming up. The office could utilize volunteers as well. Let us know if you like to organize!

We have a need for adult volunteers to help clean out some spaces on campus. If anyone is willing to volunteer after school or on the weekend, please let us know.

AUSD is Hiring
