It's a great day to be a Carl Sandburg Family Member

It’s a great day to be a Carl Sandburg Middle School family member! We had a fantastic week at CSMS and want to thank our students and staff for making it such a positive one. A highlight of the week was our virtual author visit with Alan Gratz. Students had a wonderful opportunity to hear about his journey as a writer and engage in a live Q&A. It was an inspiring experience that brought reading and writing to life for our students.

We also enjoyed a wonderful Jazz/Choir Concert and had student work proudly displayed at the All-Area Art Exhibit. It’s always great to see our students shine through the arts and share their talents with our community.

We also took time to recognize Administrative Professionals Appreciation Day. We are incredibly grateful for Mrs. Arrends, Mrs. Brown, and Mrs. Feign, who work tirelessly behind the scenes to support our students, staff, and families each day.

In addition, we are excited to share that our state testing season has officially wrapped up. We are proud of the effort our students put forth and appreciate your support in helping them be prepared each day.

Looking ahead, we have a busy and exciting week coming up at CSMS. Students will be participating in STAR testing, and we will also be hosting several important events. Our Ambassadors will be visiting MG, and we are looking forward to celebrating our Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Tuesday, April 28 at 6:00 PM.

We are also proud to honor our students during our National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) Induction Ceremony on Wednesday, April 29 at 6:00 PM, a special recognition of their hard work, leadership, and commitment to service.

As we continue preparing for the end of the school year, we are also getting ready to welcome our incoming 6th grade students. As part of that planning, our staff is working together to make our 5th Grade Fly-Up Day a fun and welcoming experience. We are excited to introduce future Tigers to our school community!

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We look forward to another great week ahead. Let’s make it a great week at CSMS! 🐯

MHS Summer School Programing MHS Summer School Programing

Incoming freshmen have several summer school options at MHS. Students may take Personal Finance during the summer to fulfill the consumer education graduation requirement. This option can free up a class period during the school year for a study hall or an additional elective.

All freshmen are required to complete one full year of P.E., which includes one semester of Health and one semester of P.E. Incoming freshmen may enroll in the online summer Health course. Students who complete Health during summer school must still complete a full year of P.E. during the school year. Some students, particularly athletes, prefer this option so they can enroll in Freshman Strength or another P.E. course for the full year. Students in band or choir who are eligible for a P.E. waiver may take Health in the summer to open an additional class period for an elective or study hall during the school year.

All summer school information can be found on our website: MHS Summer School
