A Message from Ms. Brown:
Dear Lamar Parents,
I hope you enjoyed another weekend of beautiful weather! We are in our final week of October! It has been a busy month, and we are not quite done yet. This week has some fun things for our Leopards. Please see the messages, flyers, and calendar below to check out what is coming up. We look forward to seeing everyone in the morning!
Holiday Card Contest:
Mrs. Benjamin shared a flyer for this contest. All entries are due by Friday, October 30th. If your student is interested, please check out the flyer below.
Red Ribbon Week:
We will be celebrating Red Ribbon this week. This week is set aside to support the "Just Say No" campaign. Please see the flyer below for the dress up days that correlate with this week's activities.
Dyslexia Night:
The district is holding a Dyslexia Night for all students and families. Please see the flyer below for details.
Storybook Parade:
We will hold our annual Storybook Parade this Friday, October 30th at 9:00 a.m. Please see the flyer and map below for details. The entrances to the front of the school will be closed off starting at 8:50 a.m. to ready for the parade. Parents should line up around the perimeter on both sides of the parking lot so that there is room for everyone to enjoy and spectate. The students will be walking around the entire parking lot, so pictures can be taken from any area. Please spread out. We look forward to having you come and watch this fun event.
Scanning Classroom Libraries:
We will begin our process of scanning classroom libraries this week. If you signed up to help, an email will be sent the night before with details for you. Please be on the lookout. We are still in need of volunteers to support this process. I have included a flyer below with the details and the sign-ups. Please consider signing up. Any help and time will be much appreciated.
2nd Grade CogAt Testing:
Second Grade CogAT testing will take place October 27-29. This is a change from what was previously communicated. All second graders will go through the screening process, so nominations for students in second grade are not necessary. GT Nominations for 2nd grade will be discussed once CogAT scores have been received.
ThankFALL Certificates:
We are looking forward to November and taking an opportunity to show our next round of character traits: Caring and Giving. Each November we provide an easy opportunity for you to show how much you care for your child's teachers through the ThankFall Certificates. Please click on the link below or use the QR Code on the flyer below, fill out the form, and we will print the certificates to hang on the teacher's door. They will feel all the love through this small gesture of caring and giving. Thanks so much for showing gratitude towards our hard-working teachers.

Veterans Day:
In honor of Veterans Day, we would love to recognize the veterans in our Lamar Elementary families! We have not received many submissions so far, and we would love to include your family’s veteran in this special recognition.
If you have a veteran in your family, please email Ms. Sipp at esipp@conroeisd.net by November 5, 2026, with a photo of the veteran and the following information:
Name of Veteran:
Family Member of:
Military Branch:
Thank you for helping us recognize and honor the brave men and women who have served our country! We look forward to celebrating the veterans who are part of our Lamar family.
Career Day Volunteers:
We are looking for any parents who would like to come and be a part of our Career Day on November 17th. You will share about your career choice, what you do, and the path you took to get there. Our Leopards are eager to hear about all the amazing opportunities they will have one day when they grow up. Come be a part of our Career Day!
School Start Times:
Just a reminder that our new start time went into effect this past Tuesday. Please make sure all of our Leopards arrive by 7:50 a.m. Our doors open at 7:15 a.m., and there is usually a steady flow of traffic, so you will not get caught in the last minute rush.
Parent/Teacher Conferences:
Your teachers should be reaching out to schedule a fall conference. We will have a variety of times available for you to meet with your teachers. Please take advantage of this opportunity to visit with your child's teacher, so you can hear how your child is doing in class, etc. The teachers will also share your student's beginning of year MAP testing with you. These conferences provide valuable opportunities to partner with us to ensure your child has a successful year.
Jingle Bell Run and Market:
We are gearing up for our second annual Jingle Bell Run and Market. A flyer is below in the calendar section for more information and to sign-up to be a vendor. We look forward to kicking off the holiday season with our Leopards and serving pancakes alongside some fun holiday activities. Come join us!
GT Nominations:
Parent nominations for Grades K, 1, 3, and 4 are open now through December 18th. Please see the flyer for more information.
Please take time to check out the information below. Let me know if you have any questions or need any clarification on the information shared in The Limelight.
Hugs,
Alison
