A Note from the Principal
Day -5/180
While the building may have been quiet this summer, our custodial staff certainly was not. They have spent the summer working incredibly hard to prepare every inch of the school for opening day. When students walk through the doors next Wednesday, they will be welcomed by sparkling hallways, freshly painted walls, pristine desks and classrooms, professionally cleaned rugs, and a building that looks ready for another year. A huge thank you to our custodial team for the tremendous amount of work that happens behind the scenes each summer to make sure our Pirate Ship is ready to set sail.
This week, we also officially welcomed our new teachers and paraprofessionals to the Jacobs through their respective orientations. I am extremely excited about our new hires, and confident that each of them will make a positive impact on our students and school community for years to come.
At this time, all JMS families should have received an email from our office with instructions for accessing sixth and seventh grade schedules. If you have not received that information or are having difficulty accessing your child’s schedule, please reach out to our main office.
I also want to send a huge shout out to everyone who participated in our IXL Pirate Math Challenge this summer. Congratulations to our top three finishers, Jinny Hayes, Charlie O’Mara, and our Pirate Math champion, Langdon Walper, who answered an incredible 2,353 questions! Every little bit of reading and math practice helps students stay sharp and ready for the year ahead.
Lastly, please remember to submit your photos of fun times your children experienced in their RAD Core Value shirts/school colors during your summer adventures. We always love seeing where our Pirates traveled and the memories they made along the way.
The quiet hallways will not be quiet for much longer, and we would not have it any other way. We cannot wait to welcome all of our students back through the doors next Wednesday and officially kick off another great year at the Jacobs School!
-Mr. Shaw
School Starts on Wednesday!
- School hours are unchanged from last year: 8:15-2:55
- Doors open at 8:05, and the tardy bell rings at 8:15.
- It can take a couple of weeks for the school buses to settle into their regular schedule. We appreciate your patience if your child's bus is delayed.
- If you are picking up a student by car, please line up by 2:50 and we will send your student out to you when you reach the front of the line.
- Let's have a great school year!
Introducing... PickUp Patrol!
Making Dismissal Time More Efficient and Accurate
Grades K-7 Jacobs Families should all have received emails about and from PickUp Patrol, an online dismissal aid that we are using for the first time this year. The goal is to allow families to inform the school of changes to their dismissal plans with a few mouse clicks. If you haven't done so already, please check your email from PickUp Patrol to register for the service.
LM Jacobs Student-Parent Handbook
Please Review the Handbook, Complete & Return Signature Pages
Each year, Jacobs families are required to review the Lillian M. Jacobs Student-Parent Handbook, and then complete and return the Student Handbook Signature Page and the Chromebook Signature Page. School policies and expectations are carefully laid out in the handbook, and it is an excellent source for any questions you may have about Hull Public Schools, and the Jacobs School in particular.
The Handbook and Signature Pages can be found by clicking on the links below.
Chromebook and Handbook Signature Pages (both in one document)
Students will bring home hard copies of the signature pages to be completed and returned to school. The links are provided in case you need to print up another copy.
Send Us Your RAD Summertime Photos!
We'll Put Them On The Big Screen At The First Assembly!
Send RAD Photos of your Pirates having fun in their Core Value T-Shirts or School Colors to lrajan@hullpublicschools.us all summer long, and we'll add them to the slide show at our first assembly in the fall! Kids love seeing themselves and their friends on the big screen!
