Purple House 5 2023-2024

August 15, 2025
Dear Purple Families,
I am so excited to welcome you and your child to our Purple Fifth Grade class! This will be a year of curiosity, challenge, and growth—both academically and personally. Together, we’ll explore new ideas, build strong skills, and create a caring, respectful classroom community where every learner feels valued.
In our Purple Fifth Grade family, we believe in:
-
Learning with curiosity – asking big questions and seeking thoughtful answers.
-
Working together – supporting each other and celebrating our successes.
-
Doing our best – persevering through challenges with a positive attitude.
-
Leading with kindness – treating others with empathy and respect.
I look forward to partnering with you to make this a memorable, meaningful year for your child. We’ll share updates, celebrations, and ways to connect so you always feel part of our journey.
Here’s to a wonderful year ahead—full of learning, laughter, and lots of Purple pride!
IF a learner must be checked out from school, it should occur before 2:45? After 2:45, we will request parents wait in the car loop to ensure learners get dismissed safely. Learners should only leave early if there is a doctor's appointment.
Warmly,
Ms. May Voltz

Woohoo! First day of Fifth Grade!
Team Building
Our Purple Fifth Graders are already showing what amazing teammates they are! We’ve seen teamwork, collaboration, and encouraging conversations in action—and it’s only the beginning. We can’t wait to see how these skills grow and shine throughout the year! 💜🤝📚
Our First Lee'der of the Week!
Congrats Siddhi for demonstrating excellence!
Oreo's Anyone?
Getting Oreo cookies will always motivate us to happily collect data! This week, our Purple Fifth Graders wrote guiding questions, designed survey questions, created data collection charts, and produced double bar graphs—all inspired by a sweet Oreo challenge.
You don't want to miss the tasting on Monday! 🍪 😋 📊
Oh Oh! Off to the office we went!
Ready to Read!
Thank you, Mrs. Stout, for the adorable read-aloud, we truly enjoyed the book Mr. S.!
We loved the attention to detail and how much we can learn from illustrations—just like in our own read-alouds in class this week. It was perfect!
And… we even got books to take home! 📚💜
All About Us Hexagonal Tessellations!
We had such a great time blending creativity with problem-solving this week! Using Morse code, Roman numerals, fractions, and ratios, our Purple Fifth Graders coded fun facts about themselves and then pieced them together into a colorful “Getting to Know Us” hexagonal tessellation. It was the perfect kick-off to our year—learning more about one another while exploring math and history in a fresh, hands-on way!
These will be completed and on full display by Curriculum Night!
