The Panther Press
Summer Edition
2024-2025 Wrap-Up
Thank you for another amazing year at Panorama! I will absolutely miss this entire school community.
I wanted to provide you with a recap of what has been accomplished this year!
- Increased attendance and decreased chronic absenteeism. Panorama has the best attendance and lowest chronic absenteeism in the district. Thank you so much for your commitment to getting your children to school.
- Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Tier 1 implemented with high fidelity. Panorama educators recognized over 365,000 expected behaviors after explicitly teaching our expectations, creating a positive and predictable learning environment. Our team developed a Tier 2 system that includes four active interventions, providing targeted support to students who require additional assistance. We are hopeful we will be recognized for gold-level implementation! Currently, we are the only school in OUSD to be recognized for high fidelity implementation of PBIS.
- The full implementation of a social-emotional learning curriculum created by Panorama staff. This curriculum, combined with restorative practices, empowers our students to understand their emotions, foster healthy relationships, and resolve conflicts effectively.
- We proudly continued our award-winning Friday Night Lights leadership program, empowering our upper-grade students to develop essential leadership skills and contribute positively to our school community. Mrs. Cowan was awarded by the Orange County Department of Education for her leadership.
- Promoted health and athletics through continuing to offer the Running Club to foster a commitment to physical activity, participating as a whole school in the Kids Heart Challenge to increase heart health awareness, and training athletes for the Carnival of Champions, where they experienced a “real” track meet. This year, we added Kids Run the OC, allowing more of our students to experience the thrill of a larger running event.
- We lengthened the school day by providing students with enrichment and support. Upper-grade students soared to new heights in our Drones Club and drove their way to success in eSports. Our first graders received targeted math assistance to provide an extra boost to their learning.
- Significantly expanded access to the arts this year through a partnership with the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. Our TK and 1st-grade students immersed themselves in the fantastic music program, while our 2nd- and 3rd-grade students discovered drama.
- We successfully implemented green waste separation in all food areas, teaching our students the importance of composting and reducing waste. We also reinforced our commitment to sustainability by recycling paper and bottles throughout the campus. Our gardens received a fantastic rehab, and we continue to grow!
- We increased our implementation of AVID strategies by conducting data chats and goal setting with all students, facilitating more Socratic Seminars, and of course our wonderful Career Day which could not have been possible without our Panorama community.
- Amidst all this exciting growth, our commitment to academic excellence remains steadfast. 90% of our students are scoring at grade level in reading and 82% in math. I am hopeful we will be a blue school in reading and math on our state assessments.
- Writing has increased across our school, and the students have noticeably grown in their ability to write to a prompt and explain their thinking.
Thank you for working together to create such an amazing community. I will miss you all!
Love,
Erin Rosselli
