Principal's Message Principal's Message

Dear Neubert Families,

We are thrilled to share some exciting news - Neubert Elementary has received a “Commendable” designation on the 2025 Illinois State Report Card! 🌟

This recognition is awarded to schools that have no underperforming student groups and demonstrate strong academic performance and growth. It’s a reflection of the incredible work happening in our classrooms each and every day - the dedication of our teachers and staff, the partnership of our families, and most importantly, the hard work and perseverance of our students.

The “Commendable” designation highlights the strength of our instruction, the support we provide to meet the needs of all learners, and the culture of belonging, care, and excellence that makes Neubert such a special place to learn and grow.

We are proud of this achievement and look forward to continuing our journey of growth and improvement together - always striving to help our Knights Rise Like Royalty! 👑

This week, we are coming together for a variety of amazing reasons and recognitions! 💙

  • Tuesday, November 11: We will honor our veterans by wearing red, white, and blue in recognition of their service and sacrifice.

  • Thursday, November 13: It’s World Kindness Day! We encourage everyone to wear blue or a kindness-themed shirt to celebrate the power of kindness.

  • Friday, November 14: We’ll recognize World Diabetes Day by wearing blue once again in support of awareness and advocacy.

We’re looking forward to a week of celebration, recognition, and learning together!

Mrs. Kendra Crail - 1st Grade Teacher

This is my 13th year teaching! I spent 10 years in Kindergarten and this will be my third year in 1st! I have loved both for many different reasons. The community and families are what have made Neubert such a special place to be and I look forward to building more family relationships this school year! When I'm not at school, I love spending time with my husband, Matt, my daughter, Keira and our families. We love Chick-fil-a Saturdays and football Sundays. I also love reading, exercising, cooking, and crafting.

Veterans Day Donation Drive and Photo Wall Veterans Day Donation Drive and Photo Wall

Veterans Day is Tuesday, November 11. As Veterans Day approaches, we are excited to involve our students, and our entire school community, in meaningful ways to honor those who have served our country. We invite you and your family to take part in these special activities:

Student Thank You Cards
Every student will have the chance during the school day to create a heartfelt thank you card for a veteran. These cards will be collected and shared with local veterans to show our gratitude for their service and sacrifices.

Donation Drive
We are hosting a donation drive to support local nursing homes in providing needed items for resident veterans November 3-12. Every contribution, big or small, will make a difference!

Veteran Photo Display
We would love to celebrate the veterans in our own community! Families are invited to submit photos of relatives who have served. These photos (or copies of photos) will be proudly displayed in the main hallway to honor their service. Please complete the photo template, provided by your student's classroom teacher, and submit them to your student's teacher or to the main office by November 10th. NOTE: All submissions will be returned to the student.

These activities give our students an opportunity to reflect on gratitude, service, and community while honoring the heroes in their lives. Thank you for helping us make this Veterans Day truly special!

Native American Heritage Month Native American Heritage Month

November is Native American Heritage Month, a time to honor and celebrate the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Native American and Indigenous peoples. This month provides a wonderful opportunity for families to learn together, reflect on our nation’s diverse heritage, and recognize the ongoing influence of Native communities today.

Here are a few simple ways families can celebrate and learn at home:

  • 📚 Read Together: Choose a children’s book by a Native author (e.g., Fry Bread, We Are Water Protectors).

  • 🎨 Create Nature Art: Make art using leaves, rocks, or feathers inspired by Native traditions.

  • 🍞 Cook Fry Bread: Try a simple fry bread recipe and learn its cultural story.

  • 🎶 Explore Music: Listen to Native drumming or flute music as a family.

  • 🗺️ Map Connection: Find out which tribal nations originally lived in your area.

  • 🧠 Family Trivia: Play a short “Did You Know?” quiz about Native history and contributions.

  • 💬 Reflection Time: Discuss what you learned and how Native communities continue to shape our country today.

Together, let’s celebrate and honor the stories, voices, and traditions that continue to enrich our shared history.

Parent-Teacher Conferences Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-Teacher Conferences are right around the corner! Conferences are a wonderful opportunity to connect, celebrate your child’s progress, and discuss next steps for continued growth. Please review the details below carefully to ensure a smooth scheduling process:

Conference Dates

  • Monday, November 24: 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM

  • Tuesday, November 25: 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Scheduling Window

The scheduling window opens Friday, November 7 at 10:00 AM and closes Friday, November 21 at 12:00 PM.

How to Schedule

  • Families will schedule their conferences through PTC Wizard using the following link:
  • Your PTC Wizard username and password are the same as your PowerSchool Parent Portal username (all lowercase).
  • If your family has children at more than one D300 school, please note that each school has its own PTC Wizard link, and you’ll need to close your web browser between schools before logging into the next one.

Specials Conferences
This year, Parent-Teacher Conferences for Specials classes (Music, Art, PE, etc.) will look a little different. Instead of scheduling individual appointments in PTC Wizard, all Specials teachers will be available together in the gym during conference hours, and families are welcome to stop by at any time to talk with them.

Need Help?
If you need assistance scheduling or resetting your Parent Portal login information, please contact our Assistant Principal. Christina Nowak will be happy to help schedule conferences as needed.

We look forward to meeting with you soon to celebrate your child’s growth and learning!

Unity Through Understanding Unity Through Understanding

This month our focus is on helping students learn about how everyone experiences the holidays in their own special fashion. While it is a joyful time for many families, for some families it can be a challenging one. Whether these are related to the loud hustle and bustle of celebrations, emotional struggles with past holidays, or just fatigue from the busy schedule, we know that with compassion everyone can have a beautiful time. This month the children will learn how different holiday sensory experiences can be just right/too much/not enough for them. Children are wonderful at leading with curiosity and kindness. Please ask your children about what they learned, and they will be happy and proud to share the compassionate and understanding elements they have learned to enrich all of your family holiday experiences. Finding ways to truly enjoy the time and attention together is the best gift you can give!

Cold Weather Reminder Cold Weather Reminder

As the temperatures begin to drop, we want to make sure all of our Knights stay warm and comfortable throughout the school day!

Please be sure your child comes to school dressed appropriately for the weather. This includes a warm coat, hat, gloves, boots, and snow pants when needed. Students go outside for recess every day unless the temperature (actual or wind chill) is below 10°F, or it’s raining.

To help keep everyone safe and dry, students who do not have boots and snow pants will need to stay on the shoveled blacktop area when there’s snow on the ground. We also encourage families to have children practice putting on and fastening their own winter gear at home - it’s a great way to build independence and get ready for those chilly recesses!

If your child needs to remain indoors for medical reasons, please provide a doctor’s note to the school.

Thank you for helping us keep our students warm, healthy, and ready for outdoor fun this fall and winter!

Transportation Change Reminder Transportation Change Reminder

Families, friendly reminder that if you need to make a change to your child’s transportation during the school day, please notify the office as soon as possible, but no later than 1:30 PM. This information has to come from you and not from your child.

This allows us to ensure that teachers are informed and that your child is dismissed safely and accurately at the end of the day.

Thank you for your cooperation and attention to this important procedure!

The Royal Broom Competition The Royal Broom Competition

Lost and Found Lost and Found

Updated 11/07/25

Our Lost and Found is bursting with lonely jackets and sweatshirts that are hoping to find their way back home! Please take a look at the pictures we’ve shared to see if any of these items belong to your child. To help our “lost treasures” get back to their owners even faster, we’d love for you to add your child’s name inside their belongings. That way, we can return them right away before they end up on another adventure in the Lost and Found!
