What a Fabulous First Week, Broncos!
Our 2026–2027 school year is off to a fabulous start! We have officially completed our first full week of school, and we could not be happier to be back home on our beautiful new campus! There have been so many smiles, happy faces, and exciting moments as our Bronco community settles into our new home.
Thursday was a BIG day! We were incredibly lucky and grateful to be chosen for the second year in a row to partner with Toyota Carlsbad and the Kids in Need Foundation. Thanks to their generosity, every Bobier student received a brand new backpack filled with school supplies! What an incredible way to kick off the school year. We are so thankful for this wonderful partnership and their continued support of our Broncos!
A huge thank you to all of our families who joined us for Back to School Night on Thursday evening! It was wonderful to see so many of you on campus. Families had the opportunity to visit their child’s classroom, explore our new campus, connect with several of our amazing community partners, and learn more about all that we have planned for our Broncos this year. Your presence and partnership mean so much to us!
A Few Important Parking and Traffic Reminders
We know that parking is limited around our new campus, and we appreciate everyone's patience as we continue to fine tune our arrival and dismissal procedures. Our morning drop off and afternoon pick up have improved each day and are now running pretty smoothly!
Thank you, Bronco Community, for remaining alert, driving slowly, and following the directions of our staff in yellow vests. Safety is our top priority!
To help keep everyone safe, please remember:
Our school parking lots are RIGHT TURN ONLY. You may not turn left into or out of either parking lot. Please plan your route accordingly.
Please do not make illegal U turns in the roadway. We know traffic can be frustrating, but keeping everyone safe is more important than getting through the line a little faster.
Please be a good neighbor. Cars from Bobier may NOT park in the lots of neighboring businesses, including Coyote Cafe, McDonald’s, and Walgreens. These parking spaces are reserved for their customers, and vehicles that are not authorized to park there may be towed.
Thank you for helping us keep our students, families, staff, and neighbors safe!
We also completed our first fire evacuation drill on Friday afternoon, and everyone did a fantastic job! Our students and staff practiced calmly and safely exiting the building and following our emergency procedures. We are proud of our Broncos for taking the drill seriously and helping make it a success.
In accordance with California Education Code, all VUSD schools are required to participate in school emergency drills. At Bobier, we will conduct fire drills once each month and earthquake and lockdown drills once each quarter. These drills help ensure that our students and staff know what to do and where to go should an emergency ever occur. Regular practice is an important part of keeping our entire Bronco community safe and prepared.
Have You Heard? Help the City of Vista plan Bobier Neighborhood Park!
The City of Vista is making plans for a new community park in our area, and your input is valued and needed! This is an exciting opportunity for our community to share ideas about what we would like to see in the park.
Please complete the City’s survey using the QR code provided or the paper copy sent home with your Bronco. This is your chance to share your hopes, ideas, and vision for a park that can serve our entire community!
Staying Connected
As we begin this exciting school year together, please continue to stay connected with your child’s teacher. The home-school connection is absolutely vital to the success of our students. Teachers may communicate with you through ParentSquare, email, or even a good old fashioned note sent to school. We encourage you to reach out with questions, celebrate your child’s successes, and stay engaged throughout the year.
And, of course, please make the Bobier Bronco Blast part of your weekly routine! Our parent newsletter is one of the best ways to stay up to date on important information, upcoming events, celebrations, and everything happening in our Bronco community.
Thank you for making our first week so special. We are thrilled to be home, and we cannot wait to see what this year brings! Go Broncos! 💙💛
Counseling Corner
Welcome back, students and families! The Counseling Team is excited to begin another wonderful school year with you. This year, we will continue teaching Second Step, a curriculum that helps students build important skills for learning, making friends, managing emotions, solving problems, and making responsible choices. We look forward to learning and growing together while creating a safe, caring, and supportive school community. Here’s to an amazing year.
We will be focusing our Social Emotional Lessons (SEL) on skills for learning. Our Broncos are learning the best way to learn at school. SEL lessons begin in September.

High Frequency Words
High-frequency words (sometimes referred to as sight words). You’ll often hear from teachers that it is important for your child to practice their high-frequency words at home. Sometimes at Back to School Night you might be given a list of high-frequency words or you’ll have a meeting with your child’s teacher and they might mention your child needs to learn more high-frequency words. Why are high-frequency words important? High-frequency words are the most commonly used words in written and spoken language. Learning high-frequency words helps children develop reading fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
It is important to note that some high-frequency words can’t be sounded out. For example, the word “of” when decoding sounds more like the word “off.” However, it’s spelled “of,” but seems like it should be spelled “uv.” It is important for students to learn these irregular words so that they don’t spend extra time trying to decode them. Research indicates that even good readers require a minimum of four practice trials to retain irregular sight words in memory. Some students who are struggling in learning to read may need up to 40 practice trials to retain high-frequency words into memory. Next week tips will be shared on how to practice these high-frequency words at home.
