State Cross Country
Willow Lake students showed their support for our cross country runners with an exciting pep rally! Sports teams competed in fun challenges, including a coin flip game and balloon popping puzzle-solving race. To send our runners off in style, the Willow Lake ambulance and fire truck helped lead the way! Good luck to our Cyclone runners! Go Cyclones! 💚🖤
Zombie Escape Room: Figurative Language Edition 🧟
Our 8th-grade students put their figurative language skills to the test in a zombie-themed escape room! Students worked together to solve clues and complete challenges using their knowledge of similes, metaphors, personification, and other types of figurative language. It was an engaging way to practice their ELA skills while trying to escape the zombies!
Computer Essentials Course
Students in computer essentials are learning about how computers are taken apart and put back together and to hopefully have them turn on and run when we are done! 🙂
Elementary Reading Incentive
We are excited to announce a new Monthly Reading Incentive Program for our students!
Each month, students will receive a reading calendar with a monthly reading goal. Students who complete their reading goal and return their completed calendar to school will receive a coupon for a free snack or drink at Lake Grocery Store!
This new incentive will replace our previous Book It! Pizza coupons. We are grateful to Lake Grocery Store for partnering with our school to encourage students to make reading a regular part of their lives.
Our goal is to encourage students to read every day, build strong reading habits, and enjoy the many adventures that books have to offer! We encourage parents and families to support their children by setting aside time for reading each day.
Thank you for partnering with us to help our students become confident and enthusiastic readers!
A HUGE thank you to our Reading Incentive Donors:

Co-op in the Classroom
Fifth-grade students welcomed visitors from Codington-Clark Electric Cooperative for an engaging lesson about cooperatives and electricity. Jenny Gross from East River Electric Power Cooperative led the presentation, with help from Tammy Popham of CCEC and CCEC board member Jared Knock. Students learned a lot while having fun exploring the world of electricity!
Health Science Students Put Their Skills to the Test
Students in our Health Science class have been building their Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) skills through hands-on practice. Recently, students practiced giving bed baths, developing important patient care skills. They also participated in a CNA-themed escape room, working together to solve challenges and demonstrate their knowledge. These activities provided a fun, interactive way for students to strengthen their skills and prepare for future careers in healthcare!
3rd Grade Pumpkin Project
Our third-grade students teamed up with the FACS students for some fall fun by carving pumpkins and baking the pumpkin seeds! They also saved some seeds to use in math class as they create multiplication arrays while studying multiplication.

College Fair
A group of Willow Lake High School students recently traveled to Huron to attend a college fair featuring more than 40 colleges and universities. Students had the opportunity to explore postsecondary options, learn about different programs of study, and gather information to help them plan for their futures. This was a great opportunity for students to explore the many possibilities available after high school!
