Week 1
Dear MUMS Community,
What a fantastic first week here at MUMS! Starting the school year off with Peer Pals supporting our sixth grade transition was so great! Not only did our Peer Pals do a great job supporting sixth graders with all things middle school, they also did a phenomenal job conducting tours of our school to "new to MUMS" caregivers! Along those lines, thank you to all of our caregivers who showed up for our Open House! Having our building full of our community prior to the first day of school was such a great way to begin the year!
Since day 1, students have met their teachers, begun to make new friends, or gotten reacquainted with old friends, revisited our school-wide expectations, engaged in joyful community building activities and started to create routines that will guide them through this school year! They have done this with excitement, open-mindedness, kindness and care and I couldn't be more proud of them!
Next week we will begin athletics, which takes additional stamina and a commitment to more new routines. If you have questions about clubs or athletics, please don't hesitate to reach out to Dustin.
Have a great Friday and weekend and thanks for being a partner in this work.
Best,
Michaela

From the MYP Coordinator
Greetings MUMS Caregivers!
My name is Michelle Steele, MYP Curriculum Coordinator at MUMS. Every week you’ll see updates from me here about curriculum, special events, and learning happening inside MUMS classrooms.
This week, I was able to meet some caregivers at our 6th grade parent orientation! I gave a quick tutorial on how to access your students’ grades on power school, you can see a step-by-step tutorial here (located under the “Families” tab on our website. I’ll do a more detailed presentation at our “Back to School” night on Sept 24th, hope to see many of you then! Reach out anytime, my contact info is below.
💡Talk to your student: What was something that inspired them this first week? Something that challenged them? How did they persist through the challenge?
Student Absences, Dismissals + Bus Notes
If your student will be absent from school, needs an early dismissal, or will take a different bus, please follow these directions:
- Absence / early dismissal: Call 802-382-1297, the MUMS attendance line, before 8:30am (helpful tip: add this number to your phone now as "MUMS attendance line")
- Early dismissal + bus notes: Students must deliver a caregiver's note to the front office when arriving at school (before TA).
- If taking a bus other than their regular bus: Students must bring a caregiver's note and have it signed by a MUMS Administrative Assistant in the front office to be valid.
