Celebrating Our First Buddy Classroom Meeting!
What an amazing day! We're thrilled to share that our very first buddy classroom meetings were a huge success!
This year, all of our classes have been paired with a buddy class to meet monthly, creating special connections across grade levels. Our kindergarten classes are partnered with 3rd grade, 1st grade with 4th grade, and 2nd grade with 5th grade. These partnerships are designed to help students get to know each other, share read-alouds, and encourage each other's success throughout the year.
The excitement was contagious as students participated in get-to-know-you activities, listened to engaging read-alouds together, explored different classrooms, and simply had fun getting to know their new buddies. It was heartwarming to see the older students naturally taking on mentoring roles while the younger students looked up to their new friends with such enthusiasm.
These buddy meetings foster community, build confidence, and create meaningful connections that extend beyond the classroom. We can't wait for next month's meeting to see these friendships continue to grow!
Thank you for supporting these wonderful opportunities for your children to connect and learn together.
Our Davis Students Are Taking the Lead!
đ¤ Exciting news! Our amazing Davis students have officially taken over the morning announcements, and they're doing a fantastic job!
Each morning, our student announcers are proudly leading the entire school in the Pledge of Allegiance, the Davis Pledge, birthday announcements, and sharing all the latest Dragon Days updates. It's been wonderful to hear their confident voices filling our hallways and classrooms!
We're so impressed with how responsible our student announcers have been. They arrive at the office right on time each morning and take the initiative to practice their announcements beforehand. Their dedication and professionalism truly shine through!
The best part? Every class will have the opportunity to send students for this important leadership role throughout the year. We can't wait to hear voices from all our Dragon students as they take turns sharing the news and leading our school community.
Way to go, Dragons! You're showing everyone what it means to be responsible leaders. Keep up the amazing work! đ

News from the Nurse
Here are a few updates/reminders for our families:
Itâs hard to believe another school year is underway! The October 15th deadline is fast approaching for families who have not completed your childâs Physical Exam and completed Immunization Record. Many reminders have been sent out. Please reach out to Nurse Peggy or Nurse LeeAnna with a date the exam will be completed. If we do not hear from you before that date, there is a probability that your child will be excluded from school until that requirement is completed. If you need any assistance, we are available and have many resources we can share. Thank you for partnering with us to keep our school community healthy.
If your child has been injured and/or cannot participate in PE/Recess, please call the Health Office to inform the Nurse of the situation.
- A physician note with all restrictions is required for the childâs safety. We will do our best to meet our students' needs but need to have the information to do so.
- A release will need to be obtained before the child can return without restrictions.
- We will always encourage students to go outside with their class for âfresh airâ.
Thank you to all who have sent in gently used clothing for our Health Office. We have a need for girls/ boys pants, sized 5-10, no blue jeans please - our kids will not wear them. Currently if you think your child should need to use this service we provide, please send extra underwear and clothes in their backpacks for them to use.
In the business of the mornings, sometimes breakfast can be forgotten. We all encourage you to make sure that the children have a good breakfast before coming to school if possible. Breakfast feeds the brain and helps it to get poppinâ for the day. Make sure snacks that are sent are on the healthy side to keep energy high to get through the day. Donât forget the water bottles either :)
When your child is ill and has to go home, please be prompt in picking them up. I would expect a half hour or so should be enough time to make arrangements. Of course there are always things that come up and I will be as flexible as possible. My office is very busy at times with kids coming in and out so it would be very appreciated.
Thank you!
Nurse Peggy (peggy.faught@d303.org, 331-228-2204)
Nurse LeeAnna (leeanna.anzaldi@d303.org, 331-228-6681)
Medications & Cough Drops at School
Students are not allowed to bring coughs, gum or peppermint candies to school. A Physician order is needed for all over the counter types of medications. The Medication Administration form can be obtained on the district website. Physicians must complete and sign the top portion and parents need to sign the bottom portion before any medications are given. You should not be sending any medications to school with the children in their backpacks unless the proper forms for self carry are completed. (which is for emergency and rescue meds) Please drop off the medication along with the completed form to the Nurse.
Hearing and Vision
Hearing and Vision screenings have started here at Davis. If your child is supposed to be wearing glasses, please make sure your child brings them to school every day. We have found that many students that are having a hard time with the screenings are also having a hard time seeing the board in the classroom. Some already have glasses that they are supposed to wear daily, but they are not wearing them.
The screenings are done to encourage and create healthy environments, so our students have the best opportunity to learn. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. If your child has been referred for an eye exam because he/she didnât pass the screening process, please be prompt with your follow up appointment. This will assist in the success of your child.
As always, it is very appreciated

SEL Survey Information for Parents
Please click HERE for information regarding the SEL Student Survey.
St. Charles School District 303 will conduct Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) surveys to support student wellbeing and success. Students will respond to questions covering self-management, emotional regulation, social awareness, grit, self-efficacy, sense of belonging, and teacher-student relationships.
The complete survey happens twice yearly (September and May), with shorter "Sense of Belonging" check-ins in November and February. This data helps the district understand how connected students feel to their school and supports the district's core values of Belonging, Perseverance, and Achievement.
