DFP Family Update
April 3, 2026
Enjoy your weekend
Happy Easter and Happy Passover to all who celebrate!
This week, we explored the letter S—students had fun generating words like spring, sun, skunks, and scooters. We also talked about what it means to be “silly” in honor of April Fools’ Day, sharing lots of laughs along the way. Through stories such as What If We Were All the Same?, we continued important conversations about celebrating our differences.
In the classroom, students have been busy engaging in imaginative play—caring for animals in the dramatic play area and creating delicious pizzas in our pretend pizza shop.
We’re looking forward to the next two weeks, which will be filled with even more engaging spring-themed learning activities!
Autism Acceptance Day
Yesterday, we celebrated Autism Acceptance Day! An Elm Street student read the below message during morning announcements.
It is Autism Acceptance Day!
Did you know that every single person’s brain works a little bit differently?
It’s true! Some people have a special kind of brain called Autism.
Being Autistic means someone might think, move, or communicate in their own unique way. They might see the world with extra detail, have super-cool interests, or express their feelings differently than you do.
Remember: Our differences are what make our school awesome!
Spring Reminders
As warmer temperatures approach, it is helpful to dress your student in layers. While the mornings can be cool, it is quickly starting to warm up! Also, sneakers and closed-toes shoes are best for running and jumping on the playground - please no flip flops as this is definitely a tripping hazard.
Finally, we are not allowed to apply sunscreen, etc. on your student. Please keep this in mind over these coming months- thank you.
Arrival and Dismissal
A reminder to please be on time for both arrival and dismissal. Our school day begins promptly at 8:30 or 11:45 and that start sets up a successful day for your student.
Our students dismiss promptly at 11:00, 11:45, 1:30, or 2:15 (depending on their schedule). Teachers have other students who remain at school, or other professional obligations. Please be on time and if you are running late, please call the main office at Elm Street School: 508-660-7374 ext. 0. Thank you.
