From our Director From our Director

Welcome to a New Year at MBIT!

As we open another school year at Middle Bucks Institute of Technology, I want to extend a warm welcome to our students, families, alumni, and community partners. There's always a special energy at the start of a new year, and here at MBIT, that energy is in full supply.

We begin the year with a few well-deserved recognitions. Congratulations to Dr. Lauren Doherty on completing her doctoral work at Moravian University. We are proud of her accomplishment and look forward to her continued contributions to our school community. We also welcome Ms. Cindy Midgett, who joined us on July 1 as CTE Supervisor for Curriculum and Instruction and has already hit the ground running.

We're thrilled to welcome three new members to our instructional team. Ms. Candice Irons joins us as our new Dental Teacher, bringing many years of experience to one of our outstanding health science programs. Mr. Jerrold Mackereth joins as our new Electrical Technology Teacher, coming to us with deep industry experience and seven years of teaching in the Building Trades program at Central Montco Technical High School. And many of you will recognize a familiar face in a new role: Ms. Wendy Magyar, who served as our substitute school nurse last year, returns as our Medical and Health Professions Teacher in a permanent role.

Welcome to the Team!

  • Cindy Midgett, CTE Supervisor for Curriculum and Instruction
  • Candice Irons, Dental Teacher
  • Jerrold Mackereth, Electrical Technology Teacher
  • Wendy Magyar, Medical and Health Professions Teacher

The 2026-27 school year promises to be one of the most significant we've experienced in quite some time, and I mean that in the very best way. We will be working through our Comprehensive Planning process, an opportunity to look honestly at where we are, where we want to go, and how we get there together. We will also be preparing for our Approved Program Technical Evaluation review, a chance to demonstrate the quality of our programs and the outcomes we are achieving for students. Both are opportunities to tell our story and set a forward-thinking vision for Middle Bucks.

And of course, it's another year of CTE at its best. The programs here continue to open real doors for students, building skills, earning credentials, and preparing for futures they can be proud of.

It's a great time to be part of the MBIT community. Let's continue to inspire #aMBITion together.

Warm regards,
Dr. Mark Covelle

Middle Bucks Institute of Technology welcomed faculty and staff back to campus for our annual in-service as we prepared for the start of another exciting school year.

Dr. Mark Covelle opened the day with an inspiring presentation centered on joy and recognition, reminding us of the impact our work has on students, families, and one another. The morning also included a few surprises, moments of staff recognition, and heartfelt testimonials from a parent and student that brought an important perspective to the day.

In-service provided an opportunity for our team to reconnect, refocus, and prepare for the year ahead. From our instructors and support staff to every member of the MBIT community, each person plays an important role in creating opportunities for our students and helping them build the skills, confidence, and experiences they need for their futures.

It was a meaningful way to begin the 2026–2027 school year, together, energized, and ready for what’s ahead at MBIT.

Summer Career Exploration Program Celebrates Record-Breaking Enrollment Summer Career Exploration Program Celebrates Record-Breaking Enrollment

This summer, Middle Bucks Institute of Technology welcomed a record-breaking number of students to our annual Summer Career Exploration Program (SCEP)! More than 300 students joined us for a week of career exploration, hands-on learning, and discovering new interests.

Designed for students entering grades 7–9, SCEP gives participants the opportunity to choose from a variety of career-focused courses and experience what career and technical education is all about. Throughout the week, students explored different career pathways, learned from MBIT instructors, worked with industry-related tools and technology, and completed hands-on projects.

For some students, the week is an opportunity to explore a career they are already interested in. For others, it is a chance to try something completely new. Either way, SCEP gives young students an early look at the possibilities available through career and technical education while building skills, confidence, and curiosity about their future.

This year’s record-breaking enrollment reflects the growing interest in career and technical education and the value of giving students opportunities to explore their interests before entering high school.

We are proud of another successful summer and grateful to our instructors, staff, students, and families who helped make the 2026 Summer Career Exploration Program such a success.
