Duval Dispatch
Celebrating 70 Years of Regal/Duval!
Week 2!
Dear Duval Families!
Happy Labor Day!
Welcome to Week 2 of our yearlong celebration of the Regal/Duval School! We're starting the 50s this week with lots of fun music and trivia. This is a four day week and will see us continuing to get to know the kids, learn the routines of the classrooms and school, and set the stage for strong learning ahead.
One area we know we can improve with your help is Lost and Found. If folks took a moment to put kids' names or initials on sweaters, jackets, water bottles, lunch boxes, we are SURE that way more items will be returned to you and your family. Please, PUT NAMES ON EVERYTHING!
As always, we welcome your questions and feedback. Feel free to reach out to either of us at any time.
Have a great week everyone!
Dr. Marcus and Ms. Craig
This Week's Weather: Nice Week!
Important Info
Welcome to the 50's!
We begin our Decade by Decade celebration of the Duval/Regal School this week! If you have any ideas on fun things for each decade, please share them with Dr. M or Ms. C!
Duval Basics
We will be highlighting each of our 10 values over the course of the year. September is the month of SAFETY. Please take a moment to read through these with your child(ren) and talk about ways we can ALL support the Duval Values.
The WH Elementary Handbook can be found HERE.
Family Welcome Packet
Please check out our Family Welcome Packet as it has LOTS of information for families both new and old! Pacote de boas-vindas à família em português.
Lunches and breakfasts will be free again this year. Extra snacks or ice cream (when available) need to be purchased separately.
Please label ALL clothes, water bottles, and lunch boxes!
Dismissal Changes/Absences
If you have a dismissal change from your child's regular routine, a note MUST be sent in ahead of time. Please DO NOT rely on an email or even a phone call during the day.
Please call the Duval main office at 781-618-7055 (Press 1), if your child is going to be absent or late. We take the responsibility to care for your child very seriously and we need to know your child is safe!
Robo calls go out daily for ANY child we don't know about, and we pursue things further if it is more than a day.
Safety and Traffic Notes
- Parent Pick Up- If you haven't gotten a bright yellow card so we can identify you and your child at Pick Up, please email Mrs. Brandon ASAP. allison.brandon@whrsd.org We do check licenses for those we don't recognize. It happens more at the beginning of the year.
- Buses- Bus times will vary, especially now as we get used to new routes. Please be at your child's stop a good 5 minutes early so the buses run smoothly and all are safe.
- There is NO PASSING at any time in the driveways.
- The front entry area is only used for emergencies or picking up sick children. Don't park there during arrival and dismissal.
- Neighborhood kids who would like to come back and play MUST wait until 3:30pm.
Please read our Traffic Protocols.

PTO NEWS!
Hi Duval Families!
We are excited to be back- it was so nice to see so many families at Open House last week and we greatly appreciate all the help supplying our coffee bar for the staff.
We are getting ready for our first events and want to be sure everyone saves these dates:
Tuesday 9/9 7p- PTO meeting in the Duval library. Childcare is provided for Duval students by the Whitman-Hanson National Honor Society. Our first meeting of the year is a great chance to hear all about who we are, what we do, and what is coming up for events at Duval. We will also cover the calendar for this year as well as the budget. It’s a great place to share your ideas and learn how to be involved!
Monday 9/15 3-9p- We are SO excited to share a new fundraising opportunity this year. We will be partnering with Heidi’s Hollow in Hanson. Come by anytime from 3-9 and a portion of the sales will come right back to Duval. We are so grateful to them for sharing this opportunity and we are hoping have an amazing Dolphin showing! From 4:30-5:30pm you could even have your ice cream scooped by…. Dr Marcus or Ms Craig! So come by, say hello and be sure to take some photos. 🙂
Lots more to come as we get into the fall- email us at duvalpto@gmail.com with any questions or join our FB page to see the most current updates.
Happy September!
