Hello Ridgeline Families-- looking at the calendar, next week is the half-way point of the first semester. This is the time to be asking your student about the progress and check in on missing work. Use Powerschool to assist and bring clarity. If you have detailed questions, please reach out to your teachers.

Just a reminder, we are looking to honor as many of our family members and friends who are Veterans. Below you will find a link to submit photos and some info about veteran’s in your life. We also invite veterans and their families to our recognition assembly on Tuesday, November 10. This is an early morning event, starting at 8:30am. No RSVP is required, just show up!

Thursday, Mrs. Bergman’s civics class and Mr. Conrad’s leadership class hosted special guest speaker, 5th District Representative, Michael Baumgartner. This was a great learning opportunity for students to hear first hand how Congress is structured and what their role is. Students asked some good questions about his role on three main committees her serves on. The House Judiciary Committee, the House Foreign Affairs Committee, the House Committee on Education and the Workforce. Particularly interesting was his work on foreign affairs with regard to China and the Middle East. He provided a good amount of insight into our countries priorities in these regions. He also talked with the students about their post high school plans, and the importance of being very intentional/thoughtful about additional training or education you may pursue. We thank our Congressman for working us into his schedule.

You may have noticed today’s profile pic of Mr. Emmerson and I with our softball team who is off to state! Update: the girls won their first round game over Ballard this morning 26-9! They are off to a powerful start—good luck to our team!

It’s way down at the bottom of the newsletter, so I want to highlight that Senior Yearbook photos need to be submitted by November 02. If you think you will miss this deadline, please reach out to the school and we’ll connect you with our yearbook advisor.

Last item- if you will have a Junior or Senior, NEXT year, NewTech may be an option you want to explore. This is a Skill Center in Spokane that we partner with for specialized training programs in trades such as automotive and construction. Also health sciences such as medical and dental related careers. They even offer a law enforcement, pilot school, and aircraft maintenance program. Below you will see that they offer free tours every Tuesday. It’s super simple for students to sign up and they can ride the bus that already travels directly from Ridgeline to NewTech with our currently enrolled students.

It is a very busy day here, so I had better wrap this up.

NO School Monday, Oct. 26.

Make it a great weekend! --Mr. Hardt

FALCONS LEADING THE WAY!

This past weekend, eight Ridgeline Falcons took their leadership beyond our school walls and made a BIG impact! Brooklyn Carroll, Taylor Swennumson, Ayla Diaz, Tegan Leong, Kaden Young, Trevor Lust, Cody Herrera, and Caden Smith joined forces with former Ridgeline Falcons now attending WSU, EWU, and Whitworth to serve as junior counselors at the Association of Washington Student Leaders (AWSL) Middle Level Team Retreat at Pinelow Park and Conference Center.

Together, they helped serve 76 middle school student leaders and their advisors from Selkirk, Horizon, Wahluke, Oakesdale, Tonasket, and Quincy.

Our Falcons showed up with energy, enthusiasm, empathy, and compassion! They created connections, encouraged collaboration, sparked new ideas, and empowered young leaders to develop meaningful action plans they can take back to their schools and put into action.

This is what leadership looks like! Leading by example, investing in others, and helping the next generation of leaders find their voice and make a difference.

Go Falcons!

Ridgeline Choir Ridgeline Choir

The Ridgeline hallways were buzzing with excitement this week as our talented students took to the stage. On Wednesday, October 21, the Ridgeline Choirs delivered their first concert of the school year, treating the audience to a truly beautiful night of music.

The evening’s repertoire wonderfully captured the essence of the season. The program included moving renditions of traditional pieces, such as the soulful classic "Wayfaring Stranger." The choirs also embraced the spirit of fall with "Autumn Song," a piece that perfectly celebrated the changing seasons and the spectacular array of autumn colors enjoyed in our community.

It was a deeply fun, moving, and memorable evening that highlighted the immense dedication and hard work our student vocalists have poured into their music since the start of the school year.

A huge congratulations goes out to all of our choir members for a stellar opening performance!

Earth & Environmental Science students

Earth and Environmental Science students applied their knowledge of Earth’s layers to simulate convection in the asthenosphere. They used differences in temperature to affect the density of the water and dye to show the movement of convection. This is helping to build their understanding of WHY the plates move as begin their unit on Plate Tectonics.

Those little plastic tabs that close your bread bags? Don't toss them! Our Bread Tab Drive is back, benefiting Special Olympics. The tabs are recycled for cash, and that money helps buy wheelchairs for people who need them.

It takes approximately 260,000 bread tabs to purchase one very basic wheelchair, so every single tab matters. Last year our community collected over 22,000 tabs. This year, our goal is 25,000.

Keep a jar or baggie by the bread drawer, pull off the tab when the bag is done, and send them in whenever it fills up. Drop off tabs at the RHS front office.

Same jars. Bigger goal. Thank you for helping us get there!
