A MESSAGE FROM MR. STROUP
Welcome back, Murray Avenue families!
There's an energy in the air that only a new school year can bring, and it has been an absolute joy to have our students back in the building. The hallways are full of excitement, and classrooms are alive with the sounds of learning and discovery. It's truly a wonderful feeling to see their smiling faces and to hear their laughter filling our school once again.
We've had a fantastic start to the year, with students and staff settling into new routines and reconnecting with old friends. Our teachers are already hard at work creating engaging lessons, and our students are showing incredible enthusiasm and curiosity.
This is just the beginning, and we are looking forward to an amazing year of growth, learning, and unforgettable moments together. Thank you for your continued partnership in making Murray Avenue School a special place for everyone.
Make Amazing Happen!
Mr. Erin Stroup

Importan Information for Volunteers: Act 126 Training
Dear LMTSD Volunteer:
Pennsylvania Act 126 requires that volunteers who work directly with children be trained on recognizing and reporting child abuse. (For a definition of a volunteer, please see the end of this communication.)
Below is information about this training, how to take it, and what to do after completing the training:
What You Will Learn: The training covers how to spot child abuse and misconduct, how to report it, and how to maintain appropriate relationships with students.
Online, Free, and Quick: It is a free online course that takes about three hours.
Every Five Years: You will need to refresh this training every five years.
How to Get It Done:
Go to www.reportabusepa.pitt.edu. (Register if this is your first time on the site.)
Log in with the username and password you created.
Email your completed certificate to Wendy Weir, District Receptionist, at wweir@lmtsd.org or submit by mail to her at 2551 Murray Avenue, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006.
Deadline for Existing Volunteers: If you are already a volunteer, you have until November 30, 2025, to complete the training and send in your certificate.
New Volunteers: If you are new, you need to submit this training certificate along with your other clearances to get on the approved volunteer list.

Who's a Volunteer? This means any adult in an unpaid position with a school or program who's responsible for a child's welfare or has direct volunteer contact with children. “Direct volunteer contact” involves the possibility of providing care, supervision, guidance, or control of children or the possibility of having routine interaction with children. “Responsible for Child's Welfare” means an individual is in a position where they are entrusted with the well-being of children. Volunteers include homeroom parents, field trip chaperones, tutors, coaches, activity advisors, etc.
Who's Just a Visitor? This is for adults who visit the school or attend activities but aren't as involved as a volunteer. Examples include visiting a classroom to read to students, taking tickets at games, working concession stands, or participating in "Career Day." School visitors do not need to provide clearances or the Act 126 training.
Important Health Updates from Mrs. Seefried
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Just as a reminder, please take a moment to review the district’s policies and procedures regarding your child’s health.
If your child requires medication to be given during the school day, it is the policy of the LMTSD that:
-All medications to be administered must be brought to school by the parent/ guardian.
-All medications to be administered must be in the original container and prescription medication must be in the container with the prescription label attached, indicating dosage and dispensing information (https://www.boarddocs.com)
If your child has a fever of 100.4 or above, has vomited or has diarrhea he/she should not come to school. Your child may return to school when he/she has been fever free for 24 hours without medication, or has not vomited or had diarrhea for 24 hours.
Please refer to the Student Handbook for information regarding reporting student illness and documentation from a physician for absences.
If your child requires to stay in for recess for a medical reason, a doctor’s note must be provided. The note should include the reason and the specific dates he/she is required to not participate in recess.
If possible, please provide an extra set of clothing to keep in your child’s backpack/locker for emergencies.
Please remember to check your child’s head periodically for lice. Screening by parents on a regular basis allows for early detection.
If your child is in 6th Grade, and you have not provided a completed Physical Form, please do so as soon as possible.
Thank you for your help and cooperation.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Sharon Seefried RN, CSN sseefried@lmtsd.org

Talking Points
This is a reminder that Lower Moreland will utilize the Talking Points platform again this year. This will allow families to communicate with the district using whichever language they are the most comfortable with! You will receive communications via text message, however the experience is even better if you use the app, available for all platforms!
Cafeteria Reminder
Lunch menus are posted on a new interactive website, Nutrislice. Our innovative and interactive site and mobile app make our school menus more convenient and informative than ever before! Download the Nutrislice App from the App Store or get it on Google Play and search Lower Moreland.
Friendly reminder that the universal free lunch has ended, however free breakfast will be continuing! Students that would like a free breakfast in the morning will walk straight to the cafeteria upon arrival. Students can eat breakfast in the cafeteria and granola bars, muffins, and cereal bars are also available if your student would like to save their breakfast for snack time.
Additionally, for the 2024-2025 school year, all students who are designated to receive “reduced” meals, will also be automatically qualified for free meals. There will be no reduced prices charged for the 2024-2025 school year.
The District is strongly encouraging families to fill out the Free and Reduced Applications if you believe your family will qualify. Information on income qualifications and paper applications can be found at : https://www.lmtsd.org/services/food-services-cafeteria-information
