Good Afternoon, CUSD,
While we strive to stay up-to-date on the most effective ways to keep students safe online, especially while in our care, we are supporting partners to parents in this endeavor, and realize that the majority of online threats to children happen outside of the school day. Our partners at Coronado Safe Harbor are hosting a very important parent education event (Cyber Safety Cop) on Tuesday, January 27th at 6pm in the CUSD District Office. See information below with QR code to register. The event is open to all…. bring a friend!
Speaking of student safety…. You may have heard that the CUSD Governing Board is considering changes to the district’s cell phone policy beginning in the 2026-27 school year. We will hold a community forum on this issue on Tuesday, Feb 3rd at 4:30 pm. The forum will be held at the District Office, and will also be livestreamed. Please see the flyer below for more information.
If you are looking for some great family entertainment this coming week, mark your calendars for the CoSA production of CLUE - a madcap comedy about a dinner party with aliases, weapons, and a dead host! The show opens on Thursday, 1/29 and runs through Sunday, 2/1.
Respectfully,
Karl J. Mueller

Ed Tech Parent Series
SDCOE is excited to announce the upcoming Educational Technology Parent Series, a free virtual learning opportunity open to all parents and educators across our region. This series is designed to support families and school communities in navigating educational technology and resources that empower student success.
As our educators, parents, and community come together to connect, challenge, and champion our students, we are humbled by the outpouring of compliments. What a positive testament to our CUSD family!
- Crossing Guard Dave Rawley: Since 1982 he has ensured the children of Village Elementary arrive at school safely. He is so full of joy at the opportunity to help the community at large, and is frequently caught singing hymns as he walks to work.
Click here to recognize an employee or volunteer who goes above and beyond to make a difference. Those who are "caught" will receive a copy of the positive words that were shared about them and a "Caught Being Awesome" decal. Please take a minute or two to brighten someone else's day!
