Important Information
Advanced Math Placement Process
Over the last year, the Aurora Quest Math teachers have been working on creating an equitable and transparent process for placing students into math courses. The Aurora Quest Advanced Math Placement process is outlined in this document. Our process includes information about the criteria and benchmarks that students need to demonstrate in order to be considered for advanced math classes.
Our goal is to develop confident mathematicians who have a strong foundation of the conceptual understanding of mathematical content and the requisite knowledge and skills. We consistently analyze student data to make adjustments to math class placement as needed.

It’s Live!!!!
This year we are partnering with the Run4Funds company to sell an amazingly comfy tee and a cozy hoodie. All staff and students will receive one to wear the day of the race but now you can order one (or many) to wear day of and the remainder of the year as they are NOT run specific and also come in youth sizes. $5 from each shirt and $2.50 from each hoodie sold goes to the PTA and chips away at our budget this year. Check them out! Order form is open till the 16th with a delivery of the 22nd. They will go home with your student for the run the next day!

Run 4 Funds
It’s back!!!! Our biggest fund raiser of the year! We are still in need of volunteers to help oversee the charm booth which is a prize for students that collect $50. The charm shop is something different that we opted for this year to create a new experience for those that have done the run in the past and for them to create a prize that is unique to the student. This allows our students to highlight who they are vs being handed a general prize that everyone has.

Feed The Middle School Teachers
We are entering parent/teacher conference season! Crazy to believe but it kicks off with middle school on September 25th and we have a tradition of providing dinner for the teachers as they are there ALL day.

****We have heard many parents over the last year and are adding a donation option for the many parents that have shown a desire but work makes it impossible within the time needed. We have already collected some money from a couple of parents so we are excited to see the option being used. You can make a donation on our website on the school page and tag it as Feed the teachers donation. We have two more opportunities coming up for elementary so what isn’t used this round will roll over.
Thank You for all you do to help and grow our community!

How to Volunteer
Our parent volunteers are our rock and help us navigate through the school year with less stress. If you are interested in volunteering, here is how to get your badge and clearance.
We will be asking parents to get their volunteer badges to be chaperones during field trips.
STEP 1: Complete the Screening Process (Background Check). Click Here to be directed to the Aurora Public Schools' website for the screening process.
STEP 2: Fill out the Volunteer form for Mr. Adams, our Family Liaison. He will reach out to you so you can send him a picture of your valid driver's license (front only) and a picture of yourself with a plain background for your badge. Mr. Adams will submit the "Volunteer Approval Form" with both pictures to the Safety & Security Department.
Your volunteer badge will be sent to the school and you will be informed so that you can pick it up once approval from the Safety & Security Department goes through.

Welcome to fall-or almost fall!
With fall weather comes the reminder to schedule flu vaccine. The recommendation is to wait until closer to October 1 st and before Halloween for the vaccine. COVID and flu vaccines may be given at the same time. Please do not take medicine such as acetaminophen (Tylenol) or
ibuprofen (Motrin) before the injections.
Please make sure you have activated your Talking Points account allowing you to receive text messages with an email alert. Please check your email account for missed messages from the health office. Both accounts may have critical information on immunization compliance, need
for emergency medicine, and information on the upcoming vision and hearing screen.
Please add the health office number to your contact details. 303-326-1537
As the weather changes please remember to continue to drink water; this dry climate requires so much water to keep us hydrated. Children can (and should) have lip moisturizer in their pocket or backpack to use during the school day. Please do not send cough drops, cough suckers, or any
medication in your child’s backpack or pockets. All medication must go through the health office with the APS required legal documentation and maintained in the clinic.
Please let me know how I can help you or your child.

Healthy Kids Colorado Survey Coming Sept. 15 - Oct. 9
Aurora Public Schools 6-12th Grade Parents and Guardians:
It is important to understand what is truly going on with the young people in our lives, especially around topics that may be uncomfortable for them to talk about. That’s why APS is proud to join districts across the state in administering a voluntary and anonymous survey to all middle and high school students in an effort to gauge their physical, social and emotional well being.
The Healthy Kids Colorado Survey (HKCS) will help build, enhance and expand programs and practices that improve the health of our youth, not only across our district, but throughout the state. This informative video explains how the HKCS will provide the insight we need to properly address the needs of our youth and support them in powering their potential.
Please note that the survey will touch on multiple health topics including weight, nutrition, physical activity, suicide, violence, bullying, mental health, school safety, tobacco, alcohol, marijuana, drugs, and sexual health. It will also ask questions around youth engagement in their schools and communities. Students are free to skip any questions they don’t fully understand or feel comfortable answering.
You may view the middle school survey, as well as the high school survey. If you wish to opt your child out of participating in the survey, please fill out this Opt-Out Form no later than Friday, Sept. 12. Families may also visit their child’s school to request and complete a printed version of the opt-out form.
The HKCS is supported by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, the Colorado Department of Human Services, the Colorado Department of Public Safety, the Colorado Department of Education, and an advisory group of state and local partners. It will be administered online during the school day and will be open to schools Sept. 15 to Oct. 9, 2025.
The data collected will be available to the community in summer of 2026. With this information, state leaders will be able to identify the top challenges that students are facing. This will aid district staff including our Mental Health and Counseling team in providing students with proper prevention and support resources.
To learn more about the Healthy Kids Colorado Survey, review the FAQ, visit HealthyKidsColo.org, or contact Healthy Kids Colorado Survey Director Dr. Ashley Brooks-Russell at 303-724-8437.
Thank you for your continued support.
