Attendance reminders

Anytime your student is arriving late, leaving early or absent from class, you must submit an online absence form or call the front office. Do not rely on emailing individual teachers or staff.

Click HERE for a direct link to the K-5 online attendance form.

If you would like, we have a handy page to print to post on your fridge or by the door for your convenience.

Note from our K-5 Social Worker Note from our K-5 Social Worker

Similar to last year, we are continuing our Second Step Bullying Prevention program in all of the Kindergarten through 5th grade classrooms. The Second Step program teaches children important skills for getting along with others and doing well in school. It also helps our school be a safe, respectful place where everyone can learn. In the lessons, your child will learn specific skills to help stop bullying. Students will learn how to: • Recognize when bullying is happening • Report bullying to a caring adult • Refuse to let bullying happen to themselves or others • Be a bystander who stands up and is part of the solution to bullying.

For bullying prevention to work, everyone at school needs to be involved. As a staff, we support children who have been bullied by correcting behaviors of children who are bullying, and use strategies that support a positive school and classroom climate. It is also important to help make our school a safe and respectful place by letting us know if you hear about bullying at school. Make sure your child knows to tell you or someone at school if he or she is being bullied. And give your child the clear message that it is never okay to bully others.

If you have any questions about the Bullying Prevention Unit or the Second Step program, please contact me at jsilva@sd25.org or (847) 506-5566. For more information on our school’s anti-bullying policy and specific procedures, check our school website or contact the school office.

Thank you for helping us make our school a safe, respectful place where everyone can learn. We look forward to having a fun, safe, and inspirational school year!

Sincerely,

Julie Silva, LCSW

School Social Worker
