Grocery Shopping 🛍️

This month participants accessed the comunity on a CBI trip to Stop and Shop to purchase items for the Thanksgiving Feast. Participants were assigned items and checked them off their list as they shopped around the store. They had to purcahse items, bag them, and then unpack when they returned to Second Home. We love learning skills at our program and then applying them within the community.

Holiday Luncheon 🍗

Participants had a great time at our Annual Thanksgiving Feast. We were happy to welcome our guests Dr. Vancheri, Dr. Haimowitz, and Mrs. Kluck. Our group works really hard each day gaining life skills and independence, but it is so nice to sit as a family and enjoy a simple and delicious meal!

Client Corner

What is Thanksgiving?

The word “Thanksgiving” doesn't have only one defining characteristic or meaning; instead it contains many. This one single day millions celebrate. For most, it's a day to come together with family and friends for a feast and bonding with each other. But this major holiday is much bigger and has more meanings to it; some of them may be just reaching out to their communities or some may have a deeper understanding than others like the history of Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving may have passed by the time your reading this or it may be just right around the corner, so we’ll leave you with a great quote from Mr. Daniel Humm. "What I love about Thanksgiving is that it’s purely about getting together with friends or family and enjoying food. It’s really for everybody, and it doesn’t matter where you’re from".
