GLORIOUS SUNSHINE

As we bask in the glorious summer sunshine, I am delighted to share with you the vibrant atmosphere that has enveloped our school in recent days. The warm weather has provided an excellent opportunity for our pupils to engage in outdoor learning and play, fostering a sense of joy and exploration that is truly heartening to witness.

SATs

We must commend our Year 6 pupils who are currently undertaking their SATs. Their dedication and positive attitude is truly commendable. We are immensely proud of their efforts and the resilience they are demonstrating throughout this period.

CONTINUED DEVELOPMENTS TO OUR LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

Our commitment to enhancing the educational experience of our pupils extends beyond the classroom walls. We are pleased to report that we continue to make significant developments to our outside environment, creating stimulating spaces that encourage both learning and recreation. Look out for the woodland tarp and the developments within our woodland.

PUPIL VOICE

Do you know what this means in terms of schools?

The voice of every pupil is important to us at Sledmere School and we value the thoughts of each individual.

There are many varied mechanisms for finding out what our pupils think and we always value their input in decision making.

Examples of pupil voice opportunities in our school include:

  • Daily oracy opportunities in class and Collective Worship
  • School Council
  • Collective Worship Team
  • Curriculum - e.g. topic work about the impact of humans on the oceans or discussing protected characteristics in PSHE
  • Pupil voice conversations about learning or policies
  • Supporting our pupils with SEND to shape the support their receive and assess the impact of its effectiveness

These are a few examples. All is undertaken at age-appropriate levels and helps to shape school for the better.

WEATHER

We must draw your attention to an important matter. Despite the delightful weather, we have noticed that a few children are still without hats. We kindly request all parents and carers ensure that their children are adequately protected from the sun during these warm days. Thank you.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR PROVISION

We are proud of our offer for a small, but mighty school. This half-term Miss Shier is running a woodland club; Mr Wood multi-sports and Miss Milner is running a story-telling club.
