April 26–May 2 marks National Apprenticeship Week — a time to recognize the critical role apprenticeships play in building a skilled, sustainable workforce across the construction trades.

Apprenticeship programs are more than training opportunities; they are direct pathways to high-demand, high-wage careers without the burden of student debt. In the construction industry especially, apprenticeships ensure that knowledge is passed from experienced professionals to the next generation, strengthening both our local economy and our community’s infrastructure.

To celebrate, we are hosting an Open House on Thursday, April 30 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. We invite potential students, school staff, and community leaders to visit and see firsthand how apprenticeship training is shaping the future of our workforce right here in our community.

Guests will have the opportunity to tour our training facility, observe live apprentice classes in session, and learn how structured classroom instruction combined with paid, on-the-job training creates confident, highly skilled tradespeople.

We hope you will join us in recognizing the vital importance of apprenticeships in the construction trades and in supporting the next generation of skilled professionals.

We look forward to seeing you there. RSVP and let us know you are coming!

Scholarship Websites!!!

My Scholarship Central is a great website to search scholarships that may apply to you. Also, in the Spring, this is where we will be a list of our local scholarships for our district. For all local scholarships, we require students to complete an application in My Scholarship Central. On this website, it allow students to complete one application and use that application to apply to multiple scholarships. (if additional information is needed for a particular scholarship, it will be stated). My Scholarship Central also lists many other scholarship opportunities over and beyond our local ones. I encourage every student to create a My Scholarship Central application and begin applying for scholarships.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2026-2027 school year will open on October 1, 2025. Completing the FAFSA is the first and most important step to securing grants, scholarships, and other financial aid to help you pay for college.

Why should you complete the FAFSA?

  • The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is an online financial document filled out by students and their families, and submitted to colleges.

  • The FAFSA takes about 30 minutes to complete.

  • Unlocks free money: The FAFSA is your gateway to grants and scholarships!!!. The information is used to determine if students will qualify for any grants (free money that does not have to be paid back), work study, student loans, and even some scholarships.

  • Accesses federal aid: It's the only way to be considered for federal student aid, including Pell Grants, work-study, and federal student loans.

  • Maximizes your chances: Some state and college aid is first-come, first-served, so completing your FAFSA early is the best way to be eligible for as much aid as possible.

Your next steps:

  1. Create your FSA ID: If you haven't already, both you and a parent (if you are a dependent student) need to create a Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID. This is your username and password for the application. You can create one at https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch. The account can take up to 48 hours to activate.

  2. Gather your documents: Before you start, gather the necessary documents, which include your Social Security number, tax returns from 2024 for the 26-27 school year, and records of any money earned.

  3. Complete the FAFSA: Fill out the form at StudentAid.gov. It's a free application. https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa
