Dear Boulevard Families,
What an exciting and memorable last week of school we had at Boulevard Elementary! Our students continued to work hard and practice their reading, writing, and math skills, but we also made time for celebration, fun, and creating lasting memories together.
This week, we celebrated the importance of attendance and recognized students for their commitment to coming to school every day.
On Tuesday, students who had perfect attendance for the month of May received a ticket each day to enter into a special drawing to pick their teacher for a fun activity. Students were incredibly excited, and it was wonderful seeing their joy and enthusiasm throughout the day. One lucky student was even selected to throw a pie in their teacher’s face, which brought lots of laughter and smiles to everyone watching!
Wednesday was filled with excitement during our annual Field Day! Students enjoyed tug-of-war, parachute activities, relay races, jump rope games, hula hoop races, and many other fun outdoor activities. Students were also treated to a delicious barbecue lunch. It was a great day filled with teamwork, laughter, and school spirit.
On Thursday, we celebrated and honored our amazing fifth-grade students during Fifth Grade Promotion. We are so proud of all they have accomplished during their time at Boulevard. While we will truly miss our fifth graders, we are excited for the next chapter of their journey as they head to middle school. They will always have a home at Boulevard Elementary.
Today, students enjoyed popsicles and participated in our exciting bike raffle as part of another attendance motivation celebration. Congratulations to Alexander Susan (3rd) for winning the bike raffle!
We would also like to extend a very special thank you to our PTA for hosting Boulevard Blast. It was such a fun event for our families and students. From food trucks and bounce houses to face painting, football toss games, and so much more, the event was a huge success. PTA, we sincerely appreciate all of the events and support you have provided throughout the school year. Your dedication and generosity made a difference for all of our students and staff, and we are truly thankful for everything you do.
As we close out another wonderful school year, we also say goodbye to several staff members who will be missed: Cindy Baldauf, Cliff Sweeney, Caryl Yoo, and Dionne Whitaker. Their dedication, hard work, and commitment to our students and school community have made a lasting impact on Boulevard Elementary. We are thankful for the time, talents, and care they shared with our students, families, and staff each day.
Thank you for another wonderful year at Boulevard Elementary. The Boulevard staff wishes all of our families a safe, relaxing, and restful summer break. Please continue to encourage your students to stay engaged in fun learning activities and continue reading throughout the summer months.
Don’t forget to participate in the Superintendent Kirby Summer Reading Challenge!
Have a wonderful summer, and we look forward to seeing everyone again in August!
With appreciation,
Principal Mahoney-Curry
Directora Mahoney-Curry

Attendance Matters
Coming to school regularly helps students feel connected and confident.
Every day of school counts. When students attend school regularly, they build strong routines, stay connected to learning, and make steady academic progress. Our goal is to reach a 95% weekly attendance rate in every grade level, K–5, and we can only do this with strong family partnerships.
By ensuring students arrive at school on time and every day, families play a key role in reducing chronic absenteeism and supporting student success. Let’s work together to help every student be present, engaged, and ready to learn—because every minute counts at Boulevard.

SUMMER READING
Summer Reading 2026
Cleveland Heights-University Heights
City School District
May 18, 2026
Dear Families:
Summer is quickly approaching! As in years past, the Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District has a summer reading plan for students entering PreKindergarten through 12th grade. This year, we are partnering with the Heights Library Summer Reading Program. There are two ways to participate, by paper or electronically. You can stop by any Heights Library branch to pick up a paper reading log or participate online by visiting the Heights Library page at https://heightslibrary.org/challenge/. Families, visit the Summer Reading Kickoff event at the Coventry PEACE Park on Sunday, May 31st from 2 - 4 pm to register for summer reading in person!
Your participation in the Heights Library Summer Reading Program also enters you into The Superintendent’s Summer Reading Challenge! For more information about Summer Reading, visit the CH-UH School District website (www.chuh.org) under the “Academics tab, Summer Reading 2026”. In August, Heights Library will share information about each student’s participation with The District so there is no need to complete any additional assignments before school starts in August. Just read!
Families of students entering Preschool or who are of preschool age, are invited to participate in the Heights Library Summer Reading Program. If your child is younger than 4 and a half years old and has not yet been enrolled in Imagination Library (https://literacycooperative.org/) and receive a free book each month!
Students entering grades K-12 are encouraged to participate in the Heights Library Summer Reading Program. Check out the resources posted on the CH-UH School District website under the “Academics” tab. Encourage students to find something that they want to read. If they can read it or listen to it, it counts!
As a community, we are developing lifelong readers!
