Welcome Back, Corbett!

There is something special about the first week of school. The hallways are full again, classrooms are coming to life, students are reconnecting with friends, practices and preseason are starting, rehearsals are in full swing, and our schools once again have that wonderful buzz that can only come from students!

As I look around Corbett School District this week, I am reminded of why our schools matter so much. It is about far more than academics. It is about creating a place where students feel known, supported, challenged, and excited to come to school each day. It is about the relationships between students and teachers, the partnerships between families and schools, and the shared commitment of an entire community to its young people.

I am especially grateful for our staff. The beginning of a school year takes an incredible amount of preparation, flexibility, patience, and teamwork. From our teachers and instructional staff to our office teams, custodians, transportation staff, food service teams, administrators, and everyone working behind the scenes!

As a district, we have important work ahead of us this year. We will continue to focus on student learning and achievement, strengthen our systems and processes, support our staff, and make thoughtful decisions about how we use our resources. We will also continue working to ensure that our schools are places where every student has the opportunities and a space where they belong.

Welcome back, Cardinals! Let's make it a great year.

Warmly,
Dr. Marleen Carroll

High School Men's Soccer

Dedicated to Results

Over the summer, the Corbett High School Boys Soccer Team members have been putting in the hours this summer to improve their program, both on and off the field, and are seeing some of their biggest program involvement numbers in years. During open fields sessions throughout the summer, and daily doubles (which included a 6.5 mile run through Corbett) coaches saw a huge increase in speed across the teams. They are going into this fall with both a large Varsity and JV team, ready to take to the pitch.

Corbett High School Soccer also hosted soccer camps for students grades K-12, and have assembled two brand new goals to start off the fall season. They hope to see all of their younger soccer buddies come cheer them on during home games in their new Corbett Soccer shirts, as they put those new goals to good use!

High School Cross Country

Our 2026 Cross Country season is off to a great start. We have a really strong group of new athletes joining our returning runners. We're led by seniors Enrique Aguiluz, Vivi Duvall and Zevi Gross.

Our first race was on Friday, August 28th at Ash Creek Preserve in Monmouth. Our complete schedule and results can be found at https://www.athletic.net/team/75/cross-country/2026.

Our second race will be at Gresham HS on Saturday, September 5th. If you have the chance, come out and cheer for our Corbett High School Cross Country team.

Corbett Education Foundation

Scholarships for Corbett Students

Corbett Education Foundation

The Corbett Education Foundation is a 501(c )3 non-profit organization that awards scholarships to Corbett High School graduates continuing their education beyond high school. Scholarships can be awarded to graduates attending trade school, community college, and/or universities. Beginning in 2000 with a single $500.00 scholarship, with the help of our donors, we have provided 913 scholarships totaling $479,750.00 through September, 2026. We anticipate hitting the half-million dollar mark this next Spring and hope that you will help us!

Our board of directors is comprised of volunteers. Several are Corbett High School alumni, ranging from the Class of 1955 to the Class of 2024. Some are parents whose children have received scholarship awards in the past or are a scholarship recipient themselves. Whether they are a founding member of our board, serving for almost 30 years, or a newly added member, this group of dedicated people work hard to raise funds to support our Corbett graduates without any compensation or benefit to themselves. They just like to help kids!

Scholarships are funded in several ways. Some are comprised of donations received from a particular family, business, or other organization wishing to help Corbett graduates. Some scholarships are funded from our fundraising events, primarily our Family Fun Bingo Night, and some are paid for via our partnership with Fred Meyer’s Community Support Program. (This is an easy way for anyone to help out and there is no cost to you. Fred Meyer remits funds to us based on your usual shopping spending. All you have to do is access their website and register your card to designate Corbett Education Foundation as a recipient and Fred Meyer remits a percentage to us. It’s easy, free to you, and a help to us!)

Our scholarship application process can begin now for members of the Class of 2027. As you start looking at colleges/universities, save a copy of Letters of Recommendation sent to potential schools for inclusion in your application packet to us. The entire application process is outlined on our website corbetteducationfoundation.org and the deadline is April 1st. Any student who has graduated in the past six years is eligible to apply. For example, members of the Class of 2027 could apply for a scholarship from us each year through 2032. Students need not apply in consecutive years. Someone from the Class of 2021 might have applied for a scholarship in 2021, 2022, skipped 2023 and 2024, but then reapplied for 2025 and 2026, assuming they met all required criteria along the way. For the April 1, 2027, deadline, graduates from classes 2022 through 2027 are eligible to apply.

Should you have any questions regarding our scholarship program or any other CEF items, please contact any CEF board member. (They are listed on our website.) You may send messages to dgranberg@corbetteducationfoundation.org or to tlarsen6200@msn.com. Be advised, these mailboxes are not monitored on a daily basis (remember, we are all volunteers), so it may take time to receive a reply.
