The BA Feeder Pattern Weekly Leader Newsletter
Greetings BA Feeder Pattern Leaders,
We are coming up quickly to November. Our kids need plenty of practice. I expect that our kiddos have at least 80% of instructional blocks for collaboration or practice with teacher feedback. The top 4 ways to make this happen are:
1. Provide these expectations clearly to your staff.
2. Provide examples and opportunities for collaboration to make this happen.
3. Vet lessons to ensure at least 80% of class is for student practice and kids are receiving feedback.
4. Coach for it in the moment.
With love and urgency,
Ryan Bott
Trends from the Field
I am noticing that almost all classrooms are aligned to the TEKS. Also, I am noticing that kids are not receiving enough practice and feedback. I want at least 80% of all class blocks student practice with feedback. This will greatly improve our meets and masters! See below for more information.
This is a teacher from our feeder who gives kids a lot of practice opportunities with feedback.
Weekly PDOLs
Step 1: Click HERE for the PDOL Dashboard - THIS IS FOR PRINCIPAL AND AP USE ONLY
Step 2: Have teachers exemplar the PDOL without use of the exemplar from the instructional facilitator. This needs to occur BEFORE PLC.
Step 3: Have teachers then spar their exemplar PDOL with the IF exemplar. This needs to occur BEFORE PLC.
Step 4: Spar the PDOL as a PLC, review the look-fors, then sure that level of rigor is represented in all slide decks and materials. Don't forget about plenty of student practice! This occurs DURING THE PLC.
