NAMily Newsletter
24/25 SY Back To School Edition
A word from the principals!
Greetings NAMily!
It's here...the start of a great school year! We are working hard here at NAM preparing the learning environments for your children. This year we will continue to SOAR towards Excellence! Our theme will be Making a Difference! We hope that you will embrace the theme and set goals to Make a difference in yourself, your home, our school, and our community. Take time to begin setting school year routines such as going to bed at a scheduled time, waking up early, and reading a book for 20 minutes daily. We look forward to seeing you at our Back 2 School Bash on August 11th 3-5p. During this time you will be able to meet staff, have a sneak peak of your child's classroom, drop off school supplies and meet many of our community partners. Enjoy the last few days of summer break with your children!
See you soon!
Principals Ferguson & Lewallen

NAMSF (Foundation) Election Notice
North Avondale Montessori School Foundation is a volunteer-led foundation that helps supports North Avondale Montessori school financially. We organize various fundraising events (such as the annual golf outing, the winter fundraiser, and the NAM read-a-thon), and use the money earned to provide additional financial assistance to teachers and help fund special projects in classrooms. We work closely with the PTO and staff to ensure that all students have a great experience at NAM. We invite you to get more involved with your child’s school by joining the Executive Board of our Foundation!
We are holding elections for a new slate of officers this year; all positions are open. Rest assured that the current board members will be there to help you transition into your role if you choose to serve on the board! Please read the officer position descriptions below, and fill out this interest form by Friday, August 30th if you are interested in running. Voting will then take place (also via an online form) in the month of September.
NAMSF Officer Roles:
a. President: The President shall preside at all meetings of the NAMSF and the Executive Board. He/she shall be an ex-officio member of all committees.
b. Vice-President: The Vice-President shall perform the duties and have the powers of the President in the absence, inability, or arbitrary refusal of the President to act, as determined by the Executive Board. The Vice-President will be responsible for approving out of budget, over budget, and check request items in addition to the treasurer. He/she shall also perform such duties as the President may assign.
c. Secretary: The Secretary shall act as Secretary at all meetings and see that meeting minutes are recorded and distributed and that all notices of meetings are served in a timely fashion. The Secretary will also file and preserve all records and papers pertaining to the NAMSF and its Executive Board. He/she shall also perform such duties as the President may assign.
D. Treasurer: The Treasurer shall have the care and custody of the funds of the
NAMSF and shall handle and disburse the same under the direction of the Executive Board. The Treasurer shall keep proper books of accounts showing the monies received, and disbursed and all the assets and liabilities of the NAMSF. All funds of the NAMSF shall be deposited in such banks as the Executive Board shall designate. At its discretion, the Board may require an independent audit. He/she will be responsible for providing current and accurate reporting of funds submitted and funds paid. He/she will maintain a “receipt” book, which will be used to record exchange of funds between committee chairs, donors, and the Foundation. The Treasurer will be responsible for approving out of budget, over budget, and check request items in addition to the vice-president. The Treasurer shall also perform such duties as the President may assign.
*In addition to these 4 roles which are to be filled by parents or friends of North Avondale Montessori school, The NAMSF Executive Board comprises 3 NAM staff members for a total of 7 votes on the Board.
*Meetings for the Foundation Executive Board will be at 5 pm on the first Wednesday of every month, at NAM (directly before PTO meetings). If you wish to become an officer, you will need to attend these meetings.

PTO Survey Updates
We heard you! Thank you to all the people who responded to our survey. In response to the insightful feedback we received there will also be FREE PIZZA and CHILDCARE at ALL meetings beginning in September! Come early at 5:30 for fellowship and pizza; stay for the PTO meeting.
In addition, many of you communicated that there needs to be ONE central, easy to access resource for all school and event information. In response to this feedback, the PTO Website Committee has begun revamping the NAMrockets.org website with the purpose of making it easier to use and find information. We have included a calendar with all 2024-2025 school events. We will be adding to this as new events (Picture Day, etc.) come up throughout the year. Check it out! NAMrockets.org → Calendar.
The next step is to clean up dead links, add district information, volunteer info (very soon), and a link to the Reign Shop, the exclusive supplier for NAM swag!
