February Parent Newsletter

We had a great first month with pick up and drop off at the new school. Thank you for following the updates that were posted and being aware of the new traffic patterns. We do have a few updates we have posted in order to continue to make this process better and safer for our students and staff.

Mr. Grant Hodges of the Suwannee River Area Council Boy Scouts of America Organization will be here on Wednesday, February 4th to make 1 minute classroom visits to recruit K-5th grade boys to the organization. They will also have a Scout sign up on Thursday, February 5th from 5:30 until 6:30 in the SCES lunchroom.

Students at SCES will bring home their 3rd Quarter progress report and their MOY Family iReady report Wednesday, February 11th. The link below is a short video to explain the Family Report to all families. If you need more explanation, please contact Mr. Johnson or Mrs. Miller.

Friday, February 6th, we will celebrate School Counselor Appreciation Day. Check out this graphic below to learn what our counselor, Mrs. Kati Hunter, does each and every day for our students at SCES.

Please bring your Driver's License in when you are bringing a child into school late or checking him/her out early. This step has been added as a safety measure!

All families must update their child’s information for the 2025-2026 school year. Please complete the Annual Information Update (also called Online Registration or OLR) through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. If families do not have internet access, they may visit the Board of Education office to complete their application.

February Student Recognition Assembly

Please see the attached instructions for setting up an online account. You can use this to add money to your lunch account. If you have children in the system you can link them to your account and put money on their accounts. Students can use money for purchasing extra food items. You can also share this page with your parents. They may want to create online accounts for their children.

3rd, 4th and 5th grade students at SCES will take the GMAS assessment April 28th- May 7th. While our teachers and staff are working tirelessly to prepare our students for this assessment, we are asking our families to help out at home also. Below are some links for GMAS practice provided by the GADOE. Feel free to contact Mr. Johnson or Mrs. Miller for more details or additional resources.

Be ready for your student to tell you all about how they can become leaders at SCES and at home. Check out these 7 habits that we will discussed throughout the school year at SCES. Help us to reinforce these habits at home with our students.

Our Habit for the Month of February is Sharpen Your Spear.

Don't forget to visit the office or your student's teacher to pay the SCS District Technology Fee. SCS provides each student access to a chromebook in each classroom. The $25 fee protects the chromebook from accidental breaks and damage that may occur throughout the year.
