Together We Soar
Our Mission
The mission of Milroy Elementary is to prepare and inspire all learners to reach their highest potential through meaningful connections and rigorous learning opportunities.
Dear Cardinal Families,
Cardinal Highlights and Happenings
Every Day Counts: The Importance of Attendance
Every day at school is an opportunity to learn, grow, connect, and build confidence! While we understand that illnesses and unexpected circumstances sometimes keep students home, regular attendance makes a BIG difference in a child's educational journey.
When students miss school frequently—even just two days each month—those absences can add up to approximately 20 days over a 10-month school year. That's nearly four full weeks of missed learning!
Chronic absenteeism can make it difficult for students to:
Keep up with new skills and important classroom instruction.
Build strong reading, writing, and math foundations.
Participate in hands-on activities, classroom discussions, and collaborative projects.
Develop friendships and feel connected to their classmates and school community.
Maintain consistent routines and confidence in their learning.
At Milroy Elementary, we want every child to have the opportunity to succeed! Thank you for partnering with us to make school attendance a priority whenever possible. Every day matters, and every Cardinal counts!
Ag in the Classroom: From Farm to Product
A big thank-you to Mrs. Fudge for bringing Ag in the Classroom to our students! Through these engaging lessons, students explore the journey from farm to product, discovering where the ingredients in their favorite foods come from and how agricultural products make their way from the farm to our tables. And, of course, Mrs. Fudge always leaves us with a tasty treat to enjoy! We appreciate her time and the wonderful learning opportunities she provides our Cardinals.
First Grade Explores the Newport Aquarium
Our first graders headed to the Newport Aquarium for an exciting learning adventure! Students had the opportunity to explore underwater habitats, observe fascinating aquatic animals, and discover the amazing adaptations that help sea creatures survive in their environments. From colorful fish to sharks, rays, and other incredible animals, this experience brought science to life beyond the classroom. Students deepened their understanding of aquatic ecosystems, animal characteristics, and the importance of caring for our planet's waterways.
Second Grade Discovers Minnetrista
Our second graders visited Minnetrista in Muncie for a day of exploration and discovery! Minnetrista offers opportunities to connect classroom learning with nature, history, culture, and the world around us. Through its gardens, outdoor spaces, and museum experiences, students can observe the natural environment, explore the relationship between people and their surroundings, and make connections to the history and stories of their community.
Learning Happens Everywhere!
At Milroy Elementary, learning takes many forms! From hands-on classroom activities and special presentations to field trips, family events, agricultural education, and opportunities to explore the world beyond our school walls, we strive to make learning meaningful, engaging, and memorable for every child.
These experiences help students make connections, ask questions, explore new interests, and see how what they learn in the classroom applies to the world around them. Thank you, families, for partnering with us to support your child's growth and curiosity. Together, we will continue helping our Cardinals spread their wings and soar!

Car Riders
Morning Drop-Off
- Morning Drop Off is between 8:00 and 8:20. After this time, the gym doors will be locked and you will need to bring your child to the front office to be dropped off. Students will be counted tardy after 8:20.
- Please make sure you child is dropped off at the sidewalk on the passenger's side of the car. If for some reason he/she needs to get out of the car on the driver's side of the car, you will need to get out and walk your child around to the sidewalk. We want our students to be safe so please follow this guideline.
- Please make sure that you are pulled up next to the sidewalk before dropping students off. If you have not pulled up to the sidewalk yet, we ask that you wait until you can pull forward. This ensure that students are visible to school staff. Please encourage your child to walk on the inside on the sidewalk rather than the edge near the blacktop. Again, this is due to the safety of the students.
Afternoon Pick-Up
- Car Rider pick up is at 3:00. Please have your sign with you when picking up your child. Please place your sign on the passenger side dashboard. If you need an additional sign for a family member picking up your child, please let the office know. If the driver does not have a sign, he/she will be asked to show ID to pick up your child. If another person is picking up your child, please let the front office know and we will make a note for your child.
- Please only pull forward after all students have been loaded and a school staff gives you the go ahead to move forward.
Bus Riders
- Please talk with your child about bus safety and how it is important to sit in the seat properly, keep hands and feet inside the aisle, and to follow the expectations we have in place. I've explained to all students that the bus driver's job is to get them to and from school safely. However, they need to do their job as well and follow the rules.
- Students are to only ride the bus assigned to him/her. We are not able to allow students to "bus hop" and ride home with friends. Thank you for your help with this.
