Ready for the Next Level!
Wednesday April 16th a signing day was held for three SHS seniors. Krista and Ruby will go on to play basketball at their respective universities while Sidney will be joining the Broncbuster Rodeo team at her college. Congratulations to all three ladies and we will be cheering you on from here at SHS!
Students Shine at AgriScience Fair
Four students competed at the AgriScience Fair held Wednesday in Hartford. Bringing home 3rd place was Chesnie Anderson in Food Science with her submission, "Where the Wild Germs Grow."
Kaylee Biel competed in Animal Science with "Does Age Matter? Bacterial Count in Horses." Beth Meyer, "Does Temperature Affect Corn Germination?" and Justin Muehler, "The Perfect Soil" both competed in the Plant Science division.
Senior Pics
Seniors who have not turned in a senior picture and a baby photo need to get them to Mrs. Gregg, ASAP!
SHS Can't Get Enough March Madness!
A tournament-style Knowledge Bowl competition, moderated by KB coach Mrs. Nordquist, has been in progress the last two weeks at SHS. Yesterday, the final four and championship rounds were held in front of a packed audience in the library. It was a hard-fought battle with close final scores, but the senior team of "Sisseton Salmon" defeated the sophomores of "Team Dana" to win it all. Congrats to all eleven teams that played, and thanks for participating!
Rolling out the Red Carpet
Students in Spanish I had the opportunity to do some art this week after learning about how Easter is celebrated in different Spanish-speaking countries. Pictured are Benjamin, Autim, and Vi, showing off their versions of Guatemalan alfrombras--carpets--that are traditionally made in the streets with colored sawdust and used in Holy Week processions leading up to Easter.
Homework Help
Stay caught up with your homework and grades by participating in Homework Help every Thursday in the SHS library from 3:20-5:00 pm. Come for a quiet space to work and extra support from teachers.

What is one of your favorite things about teaching? I have always loved school and teaching others. I used to play school when I was a kid; it is truly a joy to work with students.
What is your favorite dish from the cafeteria? My favorite dish from the cafeteria was always the chicken nuggets and mashed potatoes.
How do you spend your summer breaks? Normally, I take my kids to all the recreational activities. I enjoy being at home and getting projects done. I also like to garden, make home cooked meals, relax outside, go to the lake, and travel if possible.
What is something interesting about yourself? I studied abroad in college and lived in Spain for a year. I also traveled to South America and backpacked around to different countries like Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Argentina, and Uruguay. I also have been to Machu Picchu twice.
