IDENTITY | who are WE?
The Golden Rule...and more...
Throughout January, we looked closely at some of the ancient adages found in Confucius' Analects that still resonate today. Students created THEIR OWN TEXTS---HAIGA BOOKS and personal new year visual allegories.
Students have explored the 4 Ancient Arts of China and have had a lot of fun debating the meanings of some of our most commonly quoted sayings today. In February, 6-8 students are choosing what inspirational quotes they like from some new-age thinkers and are making lunar new year artworks in triptych form. These artworks will also be allegories of a different sort...
Our K-4th graders will be creating dragons of all sorts...featured in our upcoming LUNAR NEW YEAR LANTERN PARADE---February 23, 2024 (2PM). Please join us in our beloved annual celebration as we launch 2024 as the Year of the Dragon!

Hello Everyone!
We hope to see you on the 23rd as we ring in the Year of the Dragon with art making, celebration and joy!
🧧🧧🧧
Throughout the month of February, 6th-8th graders will be comparing the three great thinkers of ancient China---Confucius, Laozi and Buddha--- using some very contemporary texts as our guide! Two of our artist-authors (texts) got their start on Instagram during the global pandemic and lockdown---James Norbury and Charlie Makesy. Our third author-artist is Benjamin Hoff and his 1980s bestseller---The Tao of Pooh. Students are very interested in our study. They will culminate their study by creating a three-panel scroll to honor their favorite words to live by... We will continue practicing the four arts of ancient China in this study.
K-4th graders will be creating a variety of Lunar New Year mixed media artworks emphasizing our love of all things dragon...We will be making 3D dragon puppets, dragon lanterns and dragon drums based on ancient folktales and modern storytelling...HOORAY!
🏮🏮ALL K-2 students will be parading! Please join us! 🏮🏮
Thank you for your support.
With Kindness,
Mrs. Vecchioni
