Suicide Prevention Month
September is Suicide Prevention Month
September is Suicide Prevention Month, and Antelope Valley Union High School District is committed to breaking the stigma around talking about suicide. Now in its ninth year, our district-wide “Take 2 to Prevent Suicide” campaign continues to raise awareness and share the steps we can all take to connect those in need with support.
Throughout the month, we will provide information, videos, and resources on suicide prevention through School Counseling Google Classrooms and school activities. We encourage you to review these resources with your child, keep the conversation going at home, and help end the silence surrounding mental health.
Please visit the sites below for guidance on talking with teens and recognizing warning signs. Remember—suicide is preventable, and each of us has a role in prevention.

Dress code! Please read!
Dear Antelope Valley Union High School District Families,
As families begin shopping for the 2026–2027 school year, we want to share a reminder regarding the District’s Dress Code Policy.
Our goal is to maintain a safe, inclusive, and equitable learning environment while allowing students to dress comfortably and appropriately for school. Students must wear a top, bottom, and footwear each day. Clothing must cover undergarments and areas normally covered by undergarments, may not be see-through, and must cover the abdomen/midriff/stomach area.
Students may not wear clothing or accessories that promote alcohol, drugs, tobacco, illegal activity, violence, profanity, pornography, hate speech, or images/language that are intimidating or explicit. Undergarments or swimwear-style items may not be worn as outerwear, and clothing or accessories may not pose a health or safety concern or obscure the face, except for religious, health, or safety reasons.
We encourage families to keep these guidelines in mind when purchasing clothing for the upcoming school year. Thank you for partnering with us to support a positive school environment where all students can feel comfortable, safe, and ready to learn.
Sincerely,
Antelope Valley Union High School District
