Message from Principals

We can't believe March is here! We're kicking off the month by celebrating the joy of reading! We will have our book fair here at school and students and are encouraged to participate in our dress up days for Read Across America Week! Kindergarten registration for the 2026-2027 school year opens on March 2nd, and student-led conferences will be March 9th and 10th from 3:15pm-6:30pm. We're always excited for our students to have the opportunity to share all they have been learning, and we look forward to seeing all of our families! Our 2nd graders will have their music program this month, and ELPA21 testing will begin for our English Language Learners. We are so thankful for our students and families and look forward to another great month at Monitor!

2026-2027 Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten registration for the 2026-2027 school year opens on Monday, March 2nd. You can visit www.registration.sdale.org to register your child. We look forward to meeting our future mallards!

Student-Led Conferences

Mark your calendar! Student-led conferences will be March 9th and 10th. Look for more information coming home from your child's teacher! We look forward to seeing our families!

Spring Break

There will be NO SCHOOL from Monday, March 23rd - Friday, March 27th for spring break. School will resume on Monday, March 30th at 7:45am.

ELPA21 Testing

All English Language Learners will participate in the ELPA21 assessment either prior to or immediately following spring break. This assessment includes tests in reading, writing, listening, and speaking and will provide our teachers with information to inform instruction for our English Language Learners. Below are the dates each grade level will be testing. If your child will be testing, please make sure he or she arrives to school on time, gets plenty of rest the night before, and has a positive start to their day. We can't wait for our students to show all they know!

Testing Schedule:

3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade: March 17th & March 19th
Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd Grade: March 31st & April 2nd

Dress Code Reminders

As the weather is changing and students are growing, please be mindful of the following school dress code items:

Distressed jeans should not have holes or rips above fingertip length.
Shirts should be long enough so the midriff is not showing.
Pajama pants should be worn on pajama days only.

If you need any help with clothing for your child, please contact the school and connect with our school social worker, Reina Hart.

Student Check In & Check Out Procedures

The school day begins at 7:45am. Students who arrive after 7:45am should be checked in by an adult in the front office. If you need to change the way your child is going home, please contact your child's teacher or call the office by 2pm. Also, please note that if you are checking out your student, students will not be called to the office until a parent is in the office to pick them up so students are in class for instruction for as long as possible.
