Leeds Future Stars Family and Friends!

It seems impossible that we are already approaching the time of year when we start thinking about planning for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. At Leeds, we will soon be very busy creating class lists. The process includes carefully considering the needs of all students in the areas of academics, behavior, and social-emotional needs. We have students that require special programming by law to consider during class list development as well. Therefore, just as in the past, I will honor your teacher requests to the best of my ability but can't guarantee anything.

To ensure we are doing what is best for the students at Leeds Elementary School, we are asking that any teacher requests be made in the following manner:

  1. All requests should be made in writing through hard copy or through email to me no later than the end of the day on Friday, March 22, 2024. In person or over the phone requests will not be accepted. We do this to ensure no teacher requests will be misplaced or overlooked in transition.
  2. Please feel free to send your request in a sealed envelope to our office with your child, or you can email me your requests directly at the following address: kochr@live.siouxcityschools.com

Thanks,

Mr. Koch

Principal, Leeds Elementary School

Coming Soon: Conditions for Learning Survey Coming Soon: Conditions for Learning Survey

All Iowa public school districts are required to administer an annual school climate and culture survey to students in grades 3-12 called conditions for Learning Survey. The survey is designed to measure their engagement in school, safety, and the overall learning environment. The survey will be administered to students in April.

Parents and families of students in preschool through grade 12 will also have the opportunity to participate in the Parent Conditions for Learning Survey. The survey contains similar items to those on the student survey, focusing on areas that range from student safety and positive adult and student relationships to school rules and how they are enforced. Participation in the survey is encouraged, but it is completely voluntary, and all questions are optional to answer.

Please watch your email for more information on the survey.

Student and staff safety is of paramount importance in the Sioux City Community School District. For this reason, the District exercises a host of crisis prevention and planning tactics. Should an emergency occur, the school notifies you through our Blackboard phone system. In an emergency, the system calls every phone number associated with your child in order to reach you. The message will give you details about the emergency and provide directions on when/where to pick up your child if the normal school day is altered. Learn more about school safety.
