Revised School Calendar, Early Release Temporarily Suspended

The North Little Rock Board of Education approved the revised school calendar for the remainder of the school year. In order to make up days out of school due to snow and ice, there will be no more Early Release Wednesdays for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year. By doing so, this will allow the school year to end on Thursday, May 30, 2024.

Last week, we sent a survey to our families to seek their input regarding making up the snow days. Nearly 83% of our families who took the survey supported the district's decision to temporarily suspend Early Release Wednesday.

Please keep in mind that if we experience more inclement weather, then we COULD have to extend the school year.

Please review the revised calendar for the 2023-2024 school year.

Parent-Teacher Conference, No School

Parent-Teacher Conference will take place Thursday, February 8, 2024, from noon to 6:00 p.m. Please contact your child's individual teachers or the school if you have any questions about the conference.

Students will not have classes on Thursday, February 8 or on Friday, February 9.

Celebrating Perfect Attendance

Boone Park Elementary School recently recognized students who had perfect attendance for the month of January. These students were at school all day with no check outs!

We commend these students and families. We urge all families to make sure their student is at school and on time every day!

High School Students Offered Free Passes on Rock Region Buses

This is just a reminder about our partnership with Rock Region Metro, the bus system in Central Arkansas. Because of our partnership with the Rock Region Metro, all high school students can ride the buses free of charge. In order to ride at no cost, the student must have their school-issued ID on them with the red sticker on the back of the ID.

Passing of an NLRSD Employee

It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of a colleague of ours.

Mrs. Reelette Thomas served as a Pre-K Aide at Pike View Early Childhood Center. She joined the district in 2012. Mrs. Thomas passed away on January 28, 2024.

Mrs. Maribel Siems, our Pre-School Coordinator, shared the following: "Mrs. Thomas was known for her uplifting spirit and joking personality. She could definitely get you to laugh. Mrs. Thomas was a bright spot on our campus. She had a heart for children. Many of them called her Grandma. She will be remembered for going into her own pocket to get clothes, food, or whatever our kids needed to live and to thrive."

Please keep Mrs. Thomas' family in your thoughts and prayers. Please keep the Pike View family and students in your thoughts and prayers as well.
