Principal's Update
School Transformation: We Want Your Feedback!
Dear Kenwood Families:
I'm reaching out to let you know that this past Tuesday there was a board presentation that provided an update on the school transformation process. The ultimate goal of the transformation process is to improve the student experience so that MPS graduates are prepared, connected and purpose-driven.
We want to hear from all of our students, caregivers, staff and community members, including families whose children do not attend Minneapolis Public Schools. While our school isn’t being proposed to close or merge, the district is seeking feedback from the whole community about the proposals.
See this webpage to learn more about what is being proposed and share your feedback or attend an upcoming community meeting (the list is available on the transformation webpage). Feedback will then be shared with the school board and the broader community on October 20. The school board then will determine how we move forward.
A brief summary of how Kenwood's pathway could be affected:
Option 1: Kenwood students would attend Franklin Middle School and North High.
Options 2 and 3: Kenwood students would attend Anthony Middle School and Southwest High.
We want you to be aware of what is happening, we hope that you will share your perspectives, AND we look forward to continuing with a great school year.
Sincerely,
Principal Johnson

PTA News and Updates
Room Reps Needed!
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to be Room Reps this year!
We are still looking for volunteers in the following classes:
Ms. Ziegler (2nd - 218)
(ASD - 118)
Ms. Rummel (ASD - 245)
Ms. Meidl (ASD -224).
This is a low-stress, flexible way to volunteer and serve as a connection between the PTA, teacher, and classroom community. The time commitment is about 1 hour per month, with plenty of opportunities to be more involved if you’d like! Responsibilities include sending occasional emails to keep families informed about upcoming activities, recruiting volunteers for classroom events, and coordinating staff appreciation efforts. Most of the work can be done remotely and on your own schedule.
If you'd like to volunteer or have questions, please contact Emily Prager (emily.o.prager@gmail.com, 630-362-0500).
