The Coolidge Scholarship is a full-ride, four-year, merit scholarship that may be used by recipients for undergraduate study at any accredited college or university in the United States. Any current high school junior who plans to enroll in college in the fall of 2026 and is an American citizen or legal permanent resident is eligible to apply (current high school seniors are not eligible to apply). Successful candidates will also demonstrate humility and have a record of genuine service to their communities. A complete description of the scholarship’s criteria is available here.
The competition for the Coolidge Scholarship is significant -- only a few new Coolidge Scholarships are awarded each year from a pool of candidates that spans the entire country. Scholarship applicants are automatically considered for the Senators Program.

NC Aviation Art Contest: Deadline Jan 17, 2025
The N.C. Department of Transportation's Division of Aviation hosts the North Carolina Aviation Art Contest each year to inspire and engage young people in aviation.
The contest offers children ages 6-17 who live or attend school in North Carolina the chance to explore different aspects of aviation. Winners from the North Carolina competition progress to the national competition, hosted by the National Association of State Aviation Officials. Winners of the national competition are submitted to the international competition. The North Carolina Airports Association sponsors the art contest.
2025 Aviation Art Contest Theme: ‘Women with Wings’
Since the earliest days of aviation, young people have been inspired by those whose
adventurous spirits have soared into the skies above us.
Stories of remarkable bravery and world firsts in the air and in space have long captured the imaginations of children across the planet. The glory of record-breaking long-distance flights, magnificent skydiving formations, perfect precision landings and gold medal wins will long continue to enthuse youngsters to take to the skies themselves and experience the challenges and the camaraderie of air sports.
Particularly inspiring for young girls are the tales of women who have defied society’s expectations to take to the air and prove that the sky is a place for everyone.
Using pencils, crayons, pens or paint, artists can be inspired by “Women with Wings” to show how women from all walks of life find liberty and inspire others through their love for flight.

A teacher will sponsor and lead his/her students as they work in groups of 2 – 4 to simulate real research and development. A teacher will guide his or her students as they pick a current technology, research it, envision what it might look like in 10 or more years, and describe the development steps, pros & cons, and obstacles.
