Good Evening Shoal Creek Families! Good Evening Shoal Creek Families!

What a fantastic, high-energy week of learning and school spirit we just had!

It was wonderful to welcome our Superintendent, Dr. Ben Churchill, for a visit to our campus. He had the chance to step inside our classrooms, see our hard-working students in action, and experience firsthand the extraordinary learning taking place at our school every day.

Our staff also had a blast with a secret "Underground Spirit Week"! Our staff dressed in a hidden theme each day, and our students had a fun time playing detective and trying to guess the theme of the day. It brought so many smiles and extra laughter to our hallways!

As we look ahead, we have another exciting week planned:

  • Red Ribbon Week: We will be celebrating healthy choices and positive decision-making with fun, daily themed activities throughout the week.

  • Costume Parade: Get those costumes ready! We are looking forward to our annual Costume Parade. Please make sure costumes are school-friendly. See below for more information.

Finally, thank you so much for your continued partnership in monitoring your child’s health and attendance. Attending school consistently helps students thrive, but we greatly appreciate you keeping your child home if they are sick or showing symptoms of illness to keep our whole community healthy. If you ever have questions or need guidance, please feel free to call our Health Office at 858-613-9080 for support.

Be sure to follow our Shoal Creek Instagram page if you don’t already, our handle is @shoalcreekpusd. On this page, you’ll find cute content featuring our otters, highlights of what’s happening around the Creek, and important information about upcoming events at school and with PTO.

If you have questions or need support, please reach out to our team. We are happy to help!

Thank you for making our school community so special. Let's have a fun week!

Enjoy your Sunday evening.

Kindly,

Harmeena Omoto

Costume Parade This Friday! Costume Parade This Friday!

Shoal Creek's Annual Costume Parade is scheduled for Friday, October 30th at 7:45 a.m. at the back field/track area. All children in grades TK through 5th who wish to participate will parade in their costumes around the track and then return to their classrooms.

  • Parents/Families are invited to attend.

Parents/families can enter through the school gates with their child(ren) and walk to the playground.

  • Students will line-up when the bell rings and walk to the track with their teacher.

  • Parents and families will be able to stand around the outside of the track to watch the parade.

  • At the end of the parade, parents/families will immediately leave through the front gates .

  • If you are volunteering or a visitor in your child’s class, please sign-in at the front office after the Halloween Parade.

Costume Guidelines Costume Guidelines

At Shoal Creek, we promote a safe and friendly environment. Please remember to keep the following guidelines in mind when selecting a costume to wear for the parade:

  • If a costume requires a mask, it may only be worn during the parade. Additionally, please make sure vision is not impaired while worn.

  • Closed toe shoes. Safety regulations require students to wear shoes at all times.

  • We promote a safe and friendly environment at Shoal Creek. Fake weapons, real weapons and excessive blood and gore do not support this philosophy and are not permitted. Any child with excessive bloody make-up will be asked to remove it. Any weapons or dangerous accessories will be confiscated.

  • Costumes that portray violent movies/TV shows (Scream, Freddy Krueger, etc.) are not appropriate at school. Remember, we have young children participating in this activity. Save these costumes for after school events and trick-or-treating.

  • Display respect for other cultures. Stereotyping or ridiculing other races or cultures is unacceptable.

  • Students will be in their costumes for the entire school day. Please make sure the costume is comfortable for them to wear while in class.

Thank you for following these guidelines. Please remember…we have children of all ages at Shoal Creek and we want this activity to be respectful, fun, and full of smiles for all.
