Report Cards Visible in ALMA Tomorrow Report Cards Visible in ALMA Tomorrow

Trimester 2 report cards will be officially available to view in ALMA tomorrow. We encourage you to take some time to sit down with your student and review their report card together. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their hard work, highlight areas of growth, and set positive goals for the final trimester of the school year.

Access Your Child’s Progress Report

Please feel free to reach out to Kat Lents at klents@sd13.org if you have any problems accessing your Alma account or viewing your child’s progress report.

As always, if you have any questions regarding specific grades, progress, or the curriculum, please reach out directly to your child’s classroom teacher. They are your best resource for understanding how your student is performing in the classroom.

CoGAT Scores coming home Tomorrow CoGAT Scores coming home Tomorrow

CogAT scores for first - fifth grade will be coming home with students tomorrow. Click here for information about the CogAT assessment. As a reminder, this data point is one piece of the puzzle when it comes to understanding your child’s academic abilities. It complements other assessments we use, such as the NWEA MAP assessment, but there are some key differences between the two.

We have met the participation threshold required to receive our official 5Essentials Survey Parent Report!

Thank you to everyone who took the time to share your perspective. Your feedback is an essential piece—helping us refine our practices and decisions that ensure DuJardin remains the best possible environment for our students to grow.

We truly value your partnership and your voice in our school community. There is still time to take the survey if you would like for your voice to be heard!

IAR Assessment Next Week IAR Assessment Next Week

The week of March 16th, our students in grades 3–5 will take the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR). This state-mandated assessment measures student proficiency in English Language Arts and Mathematics, providing us with valuable data to help support and grow our academic programs. We hope for perfect attendance this week to reduce the need for make-up assessments.

Students will need the following each day next week:

  • A Charged Device: Students should ensure their school-issued devices are fully charged every night.

  • Headphones: Please bring a pair of headphones as they are required for several portions of the assessment.

  • A Good Night’s Sleep:Consistent rest is the most effective way to ensure students have the mental stamina needed for long testing blocks.

  • Attendance: Being at school on time is crucial. Starting the test with their peers in a calm environment is much less stressful than having to do a "make-up" session later.

  • A Healthy Breakfast: A protein-rich breakfast helps maintain steady energy levels and focus.

  • Regulation Tools: Students should know they can use "quiet" regulation strategies at their desks, such as deep breathing or "grounding" techniques, if they feel frustrated by a difficult question.

  • Positive Self-Talk: Remind students that the IAR is simply a chance to show what they know—it does not define their intelligence or worth.

  • Persistence: Success on the IAR often comes down to stamina. We encourage students to take their time and read through every prompt carefully.

Kindergarten Eligibility Children who will be five years of age on or before September 1, 2026, are eligible to enroll in Kindergarten for the upcoming school year.

New vs. Returning Student Portals To streamline the process, we have two distinct registration pathways:

  • New Student Portal: For families brand new to District 13.

  • Returning Student Portal: For any student currently enrolled in D13 during the 2025-2026 school year.

Important Note for Transitioning Students If your child currently attends a D13 school, they are considered a returning student. You should use the Returning Student Portal even if your child is moving from one building to another (for example, moving from DuJardin Elementary to Westfield Middle School OR moving from Preschool at Erickson to Kindergarten at Erickson or DuJardin).

Required Health Forms for the upcoming school year:

  • Kindergarten: Physical, Dental, & Vision
  • 2nd Grade: Dental
  • Health Office Website

Student Needs:

  • Please inform the nurse of any allergies or sensitivities to foods, medications, and environmental allergens. If there are any pertinent details of your students' health that you feel the nurse needs to know, please reach out and discuss this with the school nurse. This information can be helpful to better support your student throughout the day, if certain situations arise.

About Your Student’s Medication:

  • The district's medication administration policy mandates that all medication to be administered at school requires an MD order, this includes over-the-counter medications. Students may NOT keep over-the-counter meds in their backpacks or in their lockers--including cough drops, Advil, etc. This is an important safety concern! Please review the policy included in the registration process.

  • If your student requires an inhaler, Epi-Pen, or any oral medication, please obtain the medication form and appropriate health care plan from your physician when your child has their exam. Forms may also be obtained on the district website.

Excused Physical Education Class:

  • Please note that all PE excuses need to be sent to the Nurse's Office. A parent may excuse a student from PE for up to 3 days. (consecutively) Thereafter, a Doctor's note is required.

Calls home from the Nurse:

  • Phone calls home are warranted in the event of a head injury, minor or major

  • All in school sickness including fever of 100.4 (oral) or greater, vomiting and/or diarrhea

Please prepare to keep your child home until:

  • Fever-free for a full 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication.

  • Vomiting and diarrhea has ceased for a full 24 hours

Please refer to the General Health Guidelines which can be found on the district website

AR Reading Program AR Reading Program

The Accelerated Reader (AR) program at DuJardin: Students in first-fifth grade can take AR tests on the books they read.

As students earn points, they can get rewards, including bookmarks, brag tags, and a chance to attend our special AR Night Out in January and the big End of Year Field Trip in May!

Mr. Pearlman will be going over the AR program during library with our First and Second grade students this coming week. Most books we have in the library are AR books and students can read the book and take a quiz to earn points. So, find a great book, get reading, and let's get those points!

Click here for more information about the AR program at DuJardin.

Please note: this is an optional reading incentive program.
