Welcome Back, Braves!
Potter Jr. HS- August 2023
MESSAGE FROM DR. GONZALEZ
Greetings Potter JHS Families,
I hope this letter finds you and your families in good health and high spirits. It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I introduce myself as the new Principal of Potter Jr. High School. As we embark on a new academic year, I am excited to join this vibrant community of educators, students, and parents in our collective journey of fostering academic excellence and personal growth.
I understand that transitioning to a new Principal can be both exciting and challenging for everyone involved. My utmost priority is to ensure a seamless and positive transition for your children, as well as to maintain the traditions and values that make Potter JHS special. Together with our exceptional faculty and staff, I am dedicated to upholding the school's legacy of academic excellence, fostering a culture of respect and inclusivity, and promoting a passion for lifelong learning.
A little about me...
Prior to being principal at Potter, I served as the Maie Ellis principal for the past 5 years. In addition to being a site administrator, I also worked for the San Diego County Office of Education as Program Coordinator. This in addition to my 5 wonderful years as a classroom teacher. In all, I am starting my 27th year in this amazing and beautiful profession.
My wife and I have 3 beautiful daughters (10th grade, 8th grade, and 5th grade) who keep us busy and fill our lives with joy. We also have a grumpy dog that we rescued 8 years ago and love very much. I am a BIG Dodgers fan but have learned to cheer for the Padres (sometimes)!
My goal this year is to continue the great work Dr. Powers started and maximize on students, staff, and parents' potential to "chart our course to greatness!" I fully commit to supporting every single student at PJHS and providing them with the opportunities and conditions to succeed. I understand the importance and embrace all opportunities to work together with educators, students, and families. Working together, we can collectively ensure that every student is successful at Potter Jr. HS.
Below you will find important information regarding registration, first day of school, and important drop off and pick up procedures, along with other upcoming events. I will share a newsletter with you at the end of every month detailing important information. Please make sure to be on the lookout for our monthly newsletters.
Lastly, with tradition, comes great responsibility. Our team of educators are committed to ensuring Potter Jr. HS continues to provide standards of high-quality instruction in every classroom with deep care. I look forward to an amazing year! See you soon, Braves!
Respectfully,
Dr. Alex Gonzalez, Principal
